It has been a busy few months .. but I had a bit of time to repurpose one of Bob Dorman's old speaker stands from Stage 5 into this Christmas tree.

Well after removing all of the packaging and consolidating collected strings from the Walnut Valley Festival, Stage 6 and Stage 5 we ended up with nearly 30 pounds of instrument strings to recycle. Thanks to Stage 6 and the WVA for great help with this endeavor. Next step ship them off to Terra-Cycle for recycling and it is time to start collecting for next year. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort. I think for the first year of this project we did pretty good ... it's a LOT of strings!!!

Many of you know that Kevin White passed earlier this year. Kevin and Tie-dye Kelly were always on the Pecan Grove middle road at the White House .. with the big American flag painted on it. Kevin & Kelly were married on Stage 5 and always loyal and avid supporters of Stage 5. The flag over the warm up tent is placed in Kevin's honor. Rest in peace friend .. Semper Fi. Our hearts are with you Kelly .. much love to you.

Major shout outs to Laura Coe Pivonka And Brody Wellman for their very kind donations to the Stage 5 sound system. Laura had an old set of Peavey speakers, stands and cables in her closet and was looking for a new home for them. And it just so happens that some of our original Bob Dorman JBL's are need of some major repairs. Thank you Laura!! Then Brody drops by with a digital equalizer that he needed to find a home for .. he got it all set up and we are hoping for the best sound ever at Stage 5. Thanks Brody you rock! If you see Laura or Brody out and about be sure to tell them thanks!!

DON'T FORGET TO PACK YOUR USED STRINGS!! We have got a pretty good starter pile. We love Piano strings, bass stings, autoharp and hammered dulcimer strings too .. along with banjo, dobro, mando, fiddle, viola, cello, 12 & 6 string guitar, electric or acoustic (and any other weird stringed instrument with metal type strings) we will take all of your used strings. Pack 'em up and drop them off at Stage 5, Stage 6, the Information Booth or the Mercantile. If any other camp wants to be a collection point just let me know .. then after the festival we will consolidate them all and ship them off to be recycled. YEAH!!!! (The photo is about 15 pounds) Thanks to all who have already donated to the cause!!

Who knew??? Today is National String Changing day!!! Get 'em changed and throw the old ones in with your camping gear and bring them to WINFIELD for recycling. So far there are three locations that will have recycling boxes .. The info booth, Stage 5 and Stage 6. You may as well just bring all of your used strings between now and LANDRUSH to be recycled. I think we are going to set a goal of 60 pounds of strings. Let's see if we can blow that goal away. Thanks everybody and we can't wait to see you all in September.
