My heart hurts for Austin's family, his friends- especially the two at the scene with him, and the entire Wauconda/Island Lake community - too much tragedy in our small town. Hold each other close, lean on each other, you are not ever alone. XOXO

The coroner has released the identity of a 24-year-old man, who was a Wauconda High School graduate, after he was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle near Island Lake just days before his birthday.

We have been working very hard this last year on launching our nonprofit and are ramping up our fundraising efforts with a go fund me campaign!
The money raised will go towards supporting our mission of providing free animal assisted therapy for kids in need in our community. We do this by partnering with special education and general education teachers to use the farm and its animals (co-therapists) to help facilitate IEP and curriculum goals for a student or group of students. We also do this by providing free goat hikes & goat snuggles for kids experiencing mental health challenges. And lastly we follow a "care farm" model where children who have experienced trauma can come to the farm and experience unconditional positive regard from the animals while learning skills to boost their self-esteem and confidence. We are excited to be partnering with community organizations and therapists to do this work.
