For our Rochester friends, Goonie's Comedy Club - Rochester, MN has a free open mic every Thursday and headlining shows every Friday and Saturday. Go check it out!

This week at our free Open Mic on October 3rd, we’ll be featuring Laura Bellini.
Laura started doing comedy in Sacramento CA about six years ago.

Q: Why did you start doing comedy?
“Life long friend bugged me about it out of nowhere one year and told me to at least start writing as if I’m telling him my stories, and as soon as I made people laugh at my troubled up bringing I was hooked.”

Q: What are some famous comedians you like?
“Though I’m not big on famous people, and I wasn’t a huge comedy buff before I started, I do admire Leslie Jones, Jacqueline Novak, Sam Morril, Bill Burr.”

Q: What are some not famous comedians you like?
“As of late I can’t get enough of Ari Matti and would love to see more of Rachel Mac, Elise Cole, and Rochester’s very own De’Angilo Funches.”

Q: What is your act like?
“I’m a self-proclaimed “recovering hoodrat" and people have described me as blue-collar comedy with a dark twist.”

Laura has now performed across the country, from California, to New Jersey, Colorado, and all over Minnesota, where she connects with audiences by incorporating her life challenges of childhood trauma, becoming a young mother, and now being an empty-nester. She has opened for Costaki Economopoulos, featured at the House of Comedy, and has headlined various showcases in Minneapolis and beyond.

Our final featured comedian for Saturday’s showcase is Carolyn Blomberg. Carolyn is an improviser and stand up comedian from the Twin Cities. She was voted Best Standup Comic in the Twin Cities by the readers of City Pages magazine in 2020. Her turn ons include napping and plants. Her turn offs include people who use leafblowers and socializing with others.

Our next featured comedian for our fall showcase on Saturday is Ethan Pedersen. Ethan is a Minneapolis based standup comedian possessing maturity beyond his years, a keen observational eye and the awareness for making light of everyday life and the absurdity of situations. He recently won the Funniest Person contest at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy in addition to several finals appearances in other comedy competitions including the Funniest Person Contest at Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis. He works at clubs and bars across the midwest delivering sharp, witty comedy, with a twist of silliness and always with a clever, midwest sensibility.

The first of our 3 featured comedians at our showcase shows on Saturday is Phil Kolas. Phil has been a comedian for over 13 years in Minneapolis. He's featured and headlined in shows and festivals around the Midwest, and won 1st in several roast battles. He wears mostly metal band t-shirts, and took 19 years to complete a philosophy degree. Which basically just means he has a mind for super nerdy useless facts, and also wishes he was a singer in a band. Which just means a super great show for you. He also loves animals. So much so that his mom said he'd, quote, "make a great veterinarian".
