Leo is in need of adoption at the Orange County Animal Shelter.

Leo (A547233) has been longing for a home since his most recent arrival on October 31.

He was initially surrendered to us in May, as his owner, who stated she purchased him from a Bengal breeder, felt she had too many cats. He was adopted just days later, to what we had hoped would be a long-term home. Sadly, he was surrendered again, which is his most recent intake, in October as the owner was experiencing unstable housing.

At only 1 year and 2 months old, Leo has changed hands too many times, and spent too long in the shelter. While initially able to be handled, Leo has grown frustrated here, and now no longer accepts pets from our staff. He lays in his kennel each day, a bit listless.

It’s clear to us that Leo is struggling, and this isn’t the right environment for him. He needs a home. A family willing to take a chance on him, to give him space to adjust. Someone that’s in it for the long haul. If Leo is given time, we feel confident he will return to the friendly boy he once was, and show that loving side of himself that we know is hidden away.

Leo is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, with no health issues.

Beautiful sculpture honoring generosity.

This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine. The Choctaw themselves were living in hardship and poverty, having recently endured the Trail of Tears.
And that is a lesson in how to be a person in this world.
