Our Story

Nestled along Maine’s winding Penobscot River, Crooked Steeple Hall has been a fixture in Winterport dating back to 1850. Boasting the original working church bell cast in 1872, striking stain glass windows and 20-inch-wide wooden floorboards, Crooked Steeple Hall has been thoughtfully and painstakingly renovated with finishing touches in 2019. It is a distinct wedding locale offering a true Maine experience for couples seeking a one-of-a-kind, unique Maine destination wedding.

Located across the street from another local landmark, The Winterport Union Meeting House, Crooked Steeple Hall offers the unique opportunity to hold your wedding ceremony in one historic Maine building and your wedding reception right across the street, in another. Both buildings are located on the National Register of Historic Places and the Winterport Union Meeting House is lovingly maintained by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to its restoration and maintenance. Our 1812 Pierce House is the perfect spot for your closest family and friends to stay

After your ceremony, enjoy taking pictures on the sloping laws and original granite steps of the Winterport Union Meeting House. Whether it’s Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, this location creates incredible pictures! Take your time with pictures as your guests enjoy cocktail hour in Crooked Steeple Hall’s Vestry space, our ground level gathering space with exposed granite, driftwood walls, and original beams. When you’re ready, Crooked Steeple’s Main Hall will be waiting to host your unforgettable reception. Surrounded by our historic tin walls and ceiling, your reception will be held in one of the most unique spaces Maine has to offer!

All our wedding packages include travel planning services for you and your guests while in Maine, from Mainely Armanda. We also have a partnership with a travel planner who specializes in unique European honeymoons, something we know our couples will love! Take the stress out of planning things for your guests to do while they are here, let us help them experience all that Maine has to offer!
