Unfortunately, due to the storm that came through the area we will be unable to show the movie tonight! I guess it just wasn't in the cards for us to show the Little Mermaid this season. We will see you all again on October 26th for our Halloween Movie, The Haunted Mansion.

The Town of Wise offices will be closed Monday September 2nd in observance of Labor Day! Thank you to all of our employees and the hard work they put in everyday to make the Town of Wise a great place to live!!

This will be the last Family Movie night for the summer! We will be showing the Little Mermaid. Bring your blankets and chairs and come enjoy a movie under the stars! We will begin at approximately 8:30pm. The Masonic Lodge will be on site selling popcorn, drinks, and candy!

The Town of Wise Centennial Pageant was held on August 17th at Wise Primary School. We would like to thank the school for allowing us to use their facility and thank the faculty for their help. We had 32 lovely ladies sign up for the pageant making the decision for winners a hard job! We would like to thank Benny Page Photography for the wonderful pictures and Shelby Ratliff for MCing the pageant!

Make sure you get signed up for the light pole decorating contest that the Fall Fling is having this year! This is a great way to advertise your business organization, or church. The town is going to look beautiful with all these decorations!

We have had such a great response to this and can't wait to see all the great light pole decorations. We do have some spots let, but they are filling up fast, so let us know if you would like to decorate a light pole for the contest!

The Town was busy on Saturday! With more than 8,000 people visited Wise either for the Home Sweet Home Community Event or The Luck be the ladies of the 80s Softball Tournament! We love when our streets and town is full!! A huge thank you to everyone that helped put on these events and kept these events safe and running efficiently.

Family Movie Night - Friday August 30th starting at 8:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join us in watching The Little Mermaid! The Masonic Lodge will be on site with popcorn, candy, and drinks.

Just a reminder that Main Street will be shut down today August 23rd at 5:00pm for the Home Sweet Home Community Outreach Event that will be happening on Saturday August 24th. Line up for this event will not be allowed until 1:30pm but music will start at 1:00pm and the food trucks will be serving lunch!

A huge thank you to Ballad Health and Wise Kiwanis Club for their donations to our Kids Bucks program. Every child 2-15 will receive $4.00 in kids bucks at every Farmers Market!

The Town of Wise was honored to be part of convocation today at UVA Wise. We always like getting to meet the new students and give out information about our town! We hope all the students, facility, and staff have a great year!

What's Happening In Wise!
Wednesday we will welcome back the UVA Wise students and staff. Please note that classes will start this day and that traffic may be heavier than usual in Town. Please give yourself some extra time on Wednesday.
Thursday we will have the Farmers Market in Big Glades from 5pm-7pm. Come join us for some fresh vegetables, fruits, and crafts! If you would like to setup and be a vendor, please let us know!
Friday Gather at 411 Main Street will welcome Ashlyn Mullins and Trevor Meade at 7pm for live music. Please contact Gather for more information.
Saturday The Family Crisis Center will have the Home Sweet Home Community outreach event. They will be giving out clothes, shoes, school supplies, bedding, and much more! We will close the streets down on Friday at 5pm so please make alternate routes of travel. Contact Family Crisis Support Services for more information.
Saturday we will also welcome DC Fastpitch Softball and the Luck be the ladies of the 80's tournament! This tournament will be held at the Town of Wise Sports Complex.

Its going to be a busy week in Wise get out and enjoy the activities offered!

The Home Sweet Home Community Outreach will be held Saturday August 24th in Downtown Wise. The event will start at 1:00pm with music in Big Glades and the giveaway will start at 1:30pm. When parking, please park in the courthouse parking lot, as the giveaway will line up down Nottingham Avenue. Please bring your own bags to be able to carry the items.

Pageant is Saturday August 17th at 4:00 at Wise Primary School.

Make sure you are getting registered for the Centennial Pageant! You do not have to be a resident of Wise to be in the pageant. Cash prizes for top three age groups.
Below are the age groups.
0-12 months
13months- 2 years
3-4 years
5-6 years
7-9 years
10-12 years - Winner: $300, 1st Runner Up: $100 2nd Runner Up: $50
13-15 years - Winner: $500, 1st Runner Up: $250, 2nd Runner Up: $150
16-22 years - Winner: $1000, 1st Runner Up: $400, 2nd Runner up: $250
