Why I love working with families

There’s something so special about documenting family milestones! It’s not just about taking a picture; it’s about preserving a moment in time. A time when your kids are little, when they still held your hand, and when every day felt like an adventure. I get to freeze time for these moments so you’re able to cherish these little memories forever!

What’s a memory you wish you could’ve preserved that you missed out on? I regret not getting family photos when my kids were babies and toddlers. I will forever wish I could have gotten these before they grew! I’m so thankful for the family photos I have gotten!

Successful family photos go from good to amazing depending on your chosen location! Whether it’s a cozy park, an epic viewpoint, or an adventurous trail that leads to an incredible location, location helps set the mood for your session.

I personally love locations with climbing elements like fallen trees or rocks for kids to be free to explore! Open spaces are perfect for running and exerting energy throughout the session. A location can make or break a session!

Celebrating the Imperfect Moments

💫 Not every photo has to be picture perfect! The beauty is in the real, unposed moments — the messy hair, the crooked smiles, the snuggles that happen in between. The pure joy on your child’s face when they’re dancing around being a goofball! These are the moments I live for! These are the moments that remind me why I’m a photographer! Let’s embrace the beautiful chaos together, and document your family how they are to the core! Let’s be honest, we’re all a little wild at heart! ✨This month in review ✨

As we end March I want to reflect on things that I’m ever so grateful for in life. Oftentimes is easy to look into the future and anticipate what it may hold for us.

🌸This month marked the beginning of Spring! I’m so happy that Colorado brings us sunshine year round, but I’ve been really enjoying the extra warmth the end of the month brought us!

Today marks the last day of Spring break and it’s a bitter sweet feeling. We caught up on some much needed appointments, hung out with friends, enjoyed the outdoors and saw family. It was a great Spring break and I’m sad to see it end so quickly!

I had a few sessions this month which was such a fun way to add to my winter that I usually opt to take off. I worked on a business plan for myself including a goal to work hard on my SEO this year and show up more here on Instagram (if you can’t tell) 🤣

My family and I have started going to church more regularly and it’s felt great getting back to it. Having small children it turned into a huge excuse not to go, but truly there was no reason not to. We’re so glad that we have been attending again!

Overall it was a month of love, laughter, and beautiful moments! 🥰 I’m so thankful for every moment I had cherishing the moments I spent with my own kids! I’m so glad I was able to enjoy the now!

Kids don’t always sit still (shock, right? 😉). So, let them run, jump, explore or even have a mini dance party during the shoot. Trust me to be the one to follow them. Let them take the lead! Sibling photos don’t have to be all ‘sit perfectly and smile.’ (Trust me, that never works 😂.) Instead, I’ll encourage them to interact, play, and have a little fun together. The best sibling shots come from laughter, tickles, and real moments. Sometimes simple walk over there or run to me are great ways to get the kids comfortable.

A little preparation goes a long way! For a fun, stress-free family session, make sure everyone is well fed and has a chill day up until that point. The zoo is fun, but better saved for a day you don’t need to save energy for. Bring snacks, water, and anything that makes your family feel comfortable. Think about bringing a photo friendly blanket for the little ones especially on cold days. Snacks that are easy and perfect for a session are ones that aren’t too messy like fruit snacks or marshmallows. Bring along baby wipes to clean up messes just in case. Trust me — the more relaxed you are, the better the photos will turn out!
