MOWESBY
(the pen name of singer-songwriter Matt Sowersby) creates thoughtful, genuine, contemporary folk songs. He has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old and studied classical guitar in college. Inspired by indie folk, post rock, and prog rock giants like Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, and Pink Floyd, Mowesby’s music transports listeners into a world where syncopated rhythms weave through emotive vocals, creating a sense of intimacy and engagement between the artist and his audience. The way Mowesby holds emotion and intention in his earnest, layered vocals and stripped-down instrumentation will also remind some listeners of connections to contemporary folk artists like José Gonzalez, Novo Amor, and even some early Death Cab for Cutie records. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, Sowersby’s recordings often combine varied sonic textures, incorporating acoustic and electronic elements to create his characteristic layered, dynamic sound.
In January 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sowersby released his first album Go Forward, which has been described as a “soul-searching journey” both “atmospheric and poppy” by J.J. Thayer of Divide and Conquer. The album was recorded at home by Sowersby himself and touches on topics like love, depression, our impact on the world, and the process of confronting fear. The tracks comprising Go Forward were written over the course of more than a decade, bringing Sowersby’s teenage self into conversation with his adult self, now navigating his early 30s.
Sowersby currently resides in Leominster, MA, with his wife and two cats, Simon and Garfunkel. Mowesby’s music can be found streaming on Spotify and all major platforms.

It's crazy how often I forget that each individual has a whole different universe they live in. Though we are existing together and often feel like we have a grasp on whats going on in our surroundings. You and your friend could be standing next to each other in the same room. But whats happening inside our minds can be miles apart.

So with that said remember everyone is going through life at their own pace and with their own troubles.

MAMMA'S MARMALADE:
Mamma’s Marmalade draws from acoustic traditions spanning Appalachia and the Ozarks to craft a sound that manages to be at once familiar and definitively fresh. Honeyed harmonies buoy the classic high-lonesome croon of lead vocalist Lily Sexton, sailing above a whirling reel of steel string sonics and pop melody. Mamma’s Marmalade started in a UMass dorm room when Sexton (fiddle) and Mitch Bordage (mandolin) bonded over bluegrass. Tenacious flatpicker Sean Davis caught their attention at an open mic in 2016, and the band released their debut album Goodbye, Black Velvet, the following summer. In 2019 the band released their sophomore LP Rockabee Fields. Following Rockabee Fields they welcomed bassist Dan Bisson to their musical family. They’ve spent years honing improv skills, instrumental tone, harmony arranging, rhythm and energy to create a compelling live show. Regardless of their relative virtuosity at the beginning of their adventure, today Mamma’s Marmalade is composed of a group of artists that know how to work together as one. Their third studio album, Rabbit Analog, was released August 2021. They released ambitious cover project Fakin It: Covers Deserving Coverage in 2022, a feat of collaboration with Jacob Jolliff, Twisted Pine, and other talented pals. They will begin recording their fifth studio album this summer.

The Lexi Weege & JJ Slater Band:
Lexi Weege and JJ Slater met at a shared gig in 2019. After Weege finished a smoking set while rolling around on the bar, Slater picked up his guitar and played a soul-stirring “Amazing Grace” with funk band Organ Transplant. The possibility for an incendiary collaboration was immediately clear. Fast forward three years, and the pair have completed four national tours, numerous recording collaborations (including Weege’s upcoming solo EP), and have assembled a massive, passionate family of musicians. Whether performing as a duo or as a seven-piece band, groove and melody rise above all. Both sing with unique, recognizable voices; Weege marries smoky 50’s jazz with wild, arena-ready 70’s rock, while Slater overlays a smooth, melodic croon with laconic delivery and blue-collar beat poetry. Their infectious interplay will spread to the whole band, harkening back to a time when live shows could be spontaneous, energy-driven affairs. Slater’s genre-hopping guitar playing draws from screaming blues originals like Buddy Guy and Albert King, but with a twist of Bert Jansch and Wes Montgomery. The soloing doesn’t stop at his hand, though; everyone gets a beat to bark over the groove, and you can expect percussion breakdowns, scat-singing, and everything in between. At its core, the group features the songwriting talent of two longtime Valley troubadours. Weege is currently making a soulful, funky record full of longing, story-centric songs written over the course of the pandemic. Slater recently completed a songwriter-in-residence session at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, NM, and his rootsy, jazz-indebted indie rock dovetails with Weege’s to create a diverse, exciting live set. Both will be releasing solo records in 2023, and touring in every possible configuration.

A musical group consisting of life long friends Dave Haak, Pete L'Esperance, and A. Borus, as well as a rotating cast of collaborators. Dave, Pete, and Borus began playing music together over 10 years ago around campfires and in their parents' basements, and have since cut their teeth playing all over Worcester County in Bars, Breweries and Clubs. Will Evans has spent the last decade as the primary songwriter and frontman for the New England-based roots-rock outfit Barefoot Truth. After four albums and 50+ million streams on Pandora & Spotify, he’s embarked on his solo journey—carrying along some of the Jack Johnson-ish vibes from his earlier band. He’s since released three additional full-length albums and traveled the U.S. & Europe several times over.
In his shows, Evans displays technical mastery of live-looping that showcase his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, including the didgeridoo, steel drums, percussive beatboxing, acoustic guitar, and layers of soulful vocals.
His album “Rise” was nominated for three categories by the New England Music Awards. The album features deeply personal topics of humanity, compassion, and a reflection of the current political times. While promoting the album, he toured extensively with his friend and fellow conscious-roots musician Trevor Hall, performing for sold-out crowds across North America and Europe. In 2020 Evans released ‘The Summer Swell,’ a 3-song live EP, as well as a new summer-vibed single: “Lean In.”

Based in Ann Arbor, MI, Chirp is a four-piece band that does their fair share of genre-hopping. Often playing in the styles of progressive rock/funk and jazz-fusion, their sound maintains a melodic center. The group features a wide array of originals and covers in their live sets and puts together dynamic, high-energy shows. Though their music ties in many technical elements, an equal emphasis is put on grooving and keeping people moving. Chirp takes influence from Snarky Puppy, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Yes, Daft Punk, Vulfpeck, and The Beatles to name a few.

A multi faceted artist that finds her muse and inspiration from nature. Jenz’s talent knows no bounds as she dabbles in creating her clothing line, jewelry, painting, mixed media collage, dreamcatchers, art installations, and interactive communal spaces that inspire people of all ages. Upcycling and repurposing is an important part of Jenzified Designz’s mission, to create art from mostly recycled materials rather than consume to reduce our carbon footprint on our Mother Earth!

Bella’s Bartok’s newest release, Sticks and Stones, tells a story leading up to and through the Covid pandemic and the responses thus by individuals and the US government at large. The intent behind this song evolved over its lengthy writing process. The verse is the oldest part, dating melodically from late 2017 and lyrically from early 2018. It tells the tale of the dissolution of a long-standing romantic relationship, conjuring imagery of industry and failed emotional infrastructure.

Rust, rot and loss give way to the pre-chorus with the repeated call and response refrain of “We’ll work it out.” This section came about shortly before the pandemic, in November of 2019. More than a plea, the lyrics are an admonishment of despair, a reminder that hope does truly spring eternal — for both the individual and the community.

The key to this song is its chorus. Written in the deepest, darkest period of the pandemic.
Rather than wallow in misery, the lyrics confront the certain doom of Covid, the loss and utterly inept response of government in trying to contain the disease. Like any good tongue-in-cheek political commentary, existential crisis can be defanged and declawed by taking the wind out of its sails. The world keeps spinning, even through the hypocrisy of those in power.

Started in the dimly lit alleyways of Great Barrington, MA, Bella’s Bartok gradually evolved from street-punk performers to an electric, interactive spectacle that has continued to entertain audiences for more than a decade. Find Bella’s Bartok on a variety of stages, at a myriad of festivals, or on the street across the continental United States. Audiences often pick up on the band’s main influences such as Goran Bregović, Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, System of a Down, Tom Waits and Oingo Boingo.

Floors may be broken but hearts will be mended.

SAPLING
Once declared “the best band in America” by a heavily inebriated gentleman at a pub gig, Sapling is arguably New England’s premier bitchpop and art rock band. Their live show has drawn comparisons to Sleater-Kinney, Roxy Music, and Swans, surely due to their signature blending of pop hooks and confetti with spooky chaos and precariously complex signal chains. The band’s 2020 debut full-length studio record No Sequoia saw them nominated for “Best Punk” in both the Worcester and Boston Music Awards and they have since released The Apocalypse Musical (2021), a collection of demos, experimental tracks, and remote recordings. During this time the band has also released a number of self-filmed, -directed, and -edited music videos. Sapling’s 2023 antics are centered heavily around their second full-length studio record, amor fati (5/7/23 on Sleazy Within Reason Records), which is taking them to a more ambitious but still chaotic and danceable place.

Sapling was formed in 2016 by Rainy Maple Sugar Candy (bass/vocals), Amber ToiletFire Tortorelli (guitar/Theremin/vocals), and drummer Dave Cignetti. Jonny Spaghetti Cordaro took over for Dave and solidified the current lineup in 2018
