commutiny is a weekly hip hop open mic hosted by MessiahCarey, Tanman and DJ Merf with weekly feature performances, theme nights and guest DJ's.

* features can be guest DJ's, live beatmakers, breakdance crews, graf writers or MC's etc. If it's one of the 4 elements we will f**k with it (no you can't bring paint, but if you got work you wanna showcase holler!)

* open mic format is "old school",

talk to Merf and if he has an instrumental you wanna rock, rock that s**t. Folks are gonna line up and it will go from one person to another as directed by the hosts. SHOW N' PROVE don't hog the mic...spit your ~16/24/32 and keep it movin' If you wanna rock your own beats, talk to us about getting a feature performance! Freestyle or written, we give no f**ks

* open cypher will be more chaotic...we'll do it the way we used to, grab the mic, spit, then we'll all do the hook and let someone else get theirs. I'd encourage this to be freestyled but we're not here to tell ya how to live

* if you want us to play your track during downtimes and transitions, get it to Merf for the following week and if it bangs hard enough he'll throw it into regular rotation. Bonus points if you get him an instrumental for the open mic

Here's how we plan on it going down:

8:30 - 9:30 - open mic signups and Merf bangs beats
9:30 - 10:30 - open mic
10:30 - 11:00 - Feature performance
11:00 - 11:30ish - open cypher
