Why would anyone, fairly new to dance, do a short PUBLIC demonstration? 😮

A better question: Would you?

You should ask Saul.

He had been dancing tango for just six weeks. Each week he's grown literally step by step. It personally takes me back to my first few weeks. You should see some of my first videos… oi!

At Haute Ballroom, we like to document these moments, because three, six or maybe eight months from now - Saul’s going to look back and see some crazy contrast, some very distinct visual and physical markers of his progress.

When you start at ground zero, like we all do, it’s very easy to think you’ll never be THAT good... but, you can be THAT good and we can prove it - just keep watching these videos and in eight months, in two years, in a decade you’ll see uncoordinated and rhythmically challenged "normal" people do the unthinkable with their bodies. You’ll see them take position with another dancer and float, fly and finesse their way around the floor. At first they’ll be too rigid, off time, self conscious, unbalanced, unsure, and possibly overwhelmed with fear even!

Saul was a bit unique here, he was cool as a cucumber, a "haute" gem - we got lucky with the guy!

Michelle and I pay close attention to every single thing our student’s bodies do while dancing. The joints, muscles, movement, energy… breath. At your body's peak, it all works harmoniously. Your body is capable of being nurtured and elevated in so many ways through dance.

Our job is to show you how to do some of those new and nuanced things - how to grow your body in beautifully nuanced ways - your job is to just show up.

So show up someday, like Saul did. 👏❤️
