Hello Good People!
I hope all is well with you and yours! Here's a friendly reminder about OUR upcoming weekend event. Now is a good time to VISIT YAZOO!
You don't want to miss the 11th annual JERRY CLOWER FESTIVAL set from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm this Saturday, May 2, 2015 on Main Street in downtown Yazoo City. The event is FREE (no charge for admission)...and alcohol/drug-free too! The festival is open to all and promises to put a smile on the faces of ALL. Y'all ought to gather up your "young'uns"...and your "olluns" and everyone "betwixt 'em," and come on out to share this day of fun and fellowship with your your kinfolks and...and ours too (in my Jerry Clower voice). Clovis, Marcel, Luvel, Novel, Roynell, Mae Bell, Claudie Bell...and everybody except Blue Bell will be there! LOL!
The festival boasts its great food vendors, arts and crafts, antique car show, and a variety of live musical entertainment/bands and groups featuring Yazoo's own Joe Henry Smith and Friends, Jamie Isonhood and From the Heart Praise Team, as well as the renowned bluegrass sister duo Hanalena Band (with "roots" at Mississippi State University) and Karma (a team of youth traveling across country promoting an anti-bullying message. There's also a special Family and Kids Zone with a space jump, water bubble float, face-painting, train rides, and other games and competitions for the young and young at heart. Still there is NO ADMISSION FEE!
Come join us for the entire festival from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Be sure to stop by the Kids Zone where you'll find a great team of student volunteers, including Gateway MAP Youth Coalition and Champions Within Health and Nutrition Program participants (students who attend Yazoo's four-area high schools - Benton Academy, Manchester Academy, Yazoo City High School and Yazoo County High School), along with Gateway MAP Adult Coalition and Yazoo Health Network personnel and other Lifesavers Program Partners (a diverse team of individuals of who give freely of themselves - time, talents and resources to enrich the lives of children/youth, to strengthen families and to enhance OUR community).
