The Willis House

The Willis House Historic location for weddings, wedding showers, and baby showers in York, Pennsylvania. We welcome everyone!

The Willis House was purchased in 2014 by Todd and Lisa Hake to transform into a venue for weddings and special events. The venue is situated on 5.5 acres of wooded land in Manchester Township, York County. Features of the property include the historic home, 80 x 40 ft pavilion, barn ruins, creek-fed pond, wildlife, and natural landscaping. We are located near the Route 30 and Route 83 interchange, providing convenient access from Baltimore, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hershey, and Lancaster.

We are always proud to share the significant history of our venue. September 25th is the anniversary of William Willis' death, which occurred in 1801. William is buried locally in an unmarked grave, as was the custom of the time for Friends (commonly known as Quakers). He was a skilled bricklayer who migrated to York in 1754 before he designed and constructed his own home in 1762. Also, set into the brick work are glazed headers showing "WW 1762".

The historical prominence of the Willis family and the home's architecture helped the Willis House to be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
