A big thank you from Sons of the American Legion 1009, for all who supported our 2024 Military Tribute Banner Program, a TRUE TEAM effort! Thanks goes out to: Dave Paganelli of the Yorktown Highway Department, Adam Smith, Sr. From YCSD, James Martorano, Dom Monopoli, Robert Alfano, Andrew Cerrato,
Steve Mellilo And Mike Butironi from Yorktown Parks and Recreation.
Once again Adam Smith Sr. from Yorktown Central School District came to the rescue, working together with Yorktown Highway Department to get most of the last minute veterans banners up in time for Memorial Day after setbacks on Friday. And once again Ken Simone, Jim Ruscigno and Chris Simone from P and K Electric who stepped up and helped on Tuesday with the last few banners. All worked diligently throughout last week and Tuesday to hang close to 100 banners in Yorktown Heights And Shrub Oak. Honoring those veterans who sacrificed themselves for our freedom 🙏 Town of Yorktown Sons of The American Legion Squadron #1009 P and K Electrical Contractors
Thanks to all our sponsors for their patience as we dealt with several unexpected hurdles beyond our control, including the unexpected violent storm, where crews' lost a day and a half as it ripped through town on Thursday morning, toppling trees and tearing up asphalt, all of which re-focused the crews' priorities on Thursday and Friday, and a broken bucket truck late Friday.
About 12 banners were not hung as a result of the broken bucket truck, even though highway and parks and recs crews worked diligently through Saturday. All banners were completed by Tuesday afternoon. Thank you all!!!!
