Hello Friends in the Detroit Metro Area

Our church has received a call from USDA. Three trailers of about 4000 cases will arrive for a food distribution starting tomorrow.

When - Thursday 10/22
Time 9:00 a.m.
Address - 402 S. Adam's St. Ypsilanti, MI

If you know of anyone that needs help with groceries, please let them know about this event. We received over 4000 cases this past Thursday and we were not prepared for that, as we were only expecting about 500.

We don't know who at USDA is sending these trucks to our church or why our congregation was chosen, but we want to make sure that this food isn't wasted and that people who need it receive it. If you don't need anything, please share this information with someone that does. Many families are suffering right now so help getting the word out would be greatly appreciated.

The trucks will be delivering packages of...
Eggs, Butter, and Cheese
Cases of milk 4 gallons to a case
Chicken patties, and taco meat,
Potatoes and apples

It's with a great deal of regret that I must post this info..

Due to Governor Whitmers order, of the "Stay Safe, Stay Home", tonight's 7:30 pm meetings are the last meetings to be held at Friends of Little House Recovery Center, until further notice.

Please pass this on to your recovering friends and family.

Remember, there are on line 12 step meetings.

I've been seriously contemplating calling the radio station that I listen to an express my feelings about them glorifying drinking alcohol beginning at 7am today. Alcoholism is a HUGE problem through all ages, races, religious, socio-economic groups, etc. To promote all day drinking is hugely irresponsible!

And so, I've written an 'open letter' to everyone that I hold dear and, to everyone that I've never met...

To all my dear friends and family that think in order to "celebrate" St. Patrick's Day you must drink green beer and Irish Whiskey, I have a news flash for you,
NO YOU DON'T!

However, if you do, PLEASE humor me and do NOT drink and drive or, be a passenger in a car of another who has been drinking. It's just not worth it!

Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) reports that today is one of the deadliest days of the year for drunk driving accidents. Whether or not their statistics are correct, let's be serious, if you begin your day at 7am drinking ANY color of beer, chances are, there are gonna be a ton of hungover folks waking up in jail. I pray it's not you because you've killed someone while driving drunk!

Please remember, even if I haven't seen you or talked to you in a while, I love you and would cry at your funeral or at your sentencing!!

Friends of Little House had an emergency Board meeting today.
We've decided to carry on with our regular schedule.
Here is what we're proposing to our brothers and sisters in recovery if you attend LH mtgs.

IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS, PLEASE STAY HOME!!
* Sore Throat
* Shortness of Breath
* Fever
* Runny Nose

IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS i.e.
* Asthma
* Diabetes
* Heart/Lung Disease
You're more at risk to contract COVID-19!

WE'RE IN DESPERATE NEED OF DONATIONS OF:
* Disinfectant Wipes
* Rubber Gloves
* Bleach
* Toilet Paper
* Tissues
* Paper Towels
* Lysol Spray

WHEN YOU COME TO A MEETING PLEASE:
* Wipe down all Tables and Chair Arms
* Wipe down door handles on all entrance doors including, restrooms, book room, kitchen, back door and upstairs door.
* Please be sure to pick up and dispose of all trash EVERY MEETING

And lastly, if you cough/sneeze,
PLEASE DO IT IN YOUR ELBOW OR COVER YOUR FACE WITH A TISSUE!!

It's important to your Board of Directors, that you have a safe place to have our meetings!! But we (as the Board) need YOUR help!! We can't do this without you!!

If you or anyone who's a "regular" at LH mtgs has COVID-19, please let a board member know ASAP so that we can take the appropriate measures to help them and all of us!!

We're doing this for all of us but, ESPECIALLY for the Newcomer!!

This isn't going to last forever!! This is JUST FOR TODAY!!

For those looking for service work opportunities:

Little House can always use an extra hand to wipe down tables, coffee pots, nobs, railings etc.

If you have extra supplies or you feel so compelled to support the recovery community we can always use: Toilet Paper, bleach, lyrsol, paper towels, etc.

We appreciate you. Lets stay better together.

A simple phone call to get your self grounded or offer your experience strength and hope will continue through this National Crisis.
