Feliz día de los Mu***os!

In Mexico, the marigold is known as flor de mu**to, which translates to "flower of the dead". The marigold is a key part of the annual Day of the Dead festival, Día de los Mu***os, where the bright orange flowers are used to decorate altars to the dead. The flower's strong scent and color are thought to help guide the spirits of the dead home.

Dia de los Mu***os is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd to honor loved ones who have passed.

I picked these marigolds today, November 1st. Happy day of the dead!

We are now closed for the season. We finally got some much needed rain, however, the deer came in and had a feast! That along with a swarm of cucumber beetles, we simply do not have enough flowers to open UPick to the public. We have made the hard decision to close for the season.

A kind and generous couple started a "Pay it Forward" bouquet chain by purchasing two extra bouquets to be gifted to guests at the farm. The "Pay it Forward" chain continued all afternoon. Our guests were so thrilled to have been gifted a bouquet that they gifted a bouquet for the next person! In the end, after 10 Pay it forwards, a newly engaged couple received a gifted bouquet and a young boy picking for his mother. A big hooray for that special couple who spread a little extra happiness today! Well done :-)
