Grateful despite the Grief

Constantly in awe with what I have been able to create in 5 years of moving to an island I had no prior knowledge about.

Thankful for the love and support I have here in .

Thankful for those who intentionally show up, spend their money and are intentional about supporting

It’s been a rough few months but thankful for the Grace of God, only with his strength I am able to make it each day.

As the journey continues I’ll keep pushing to make the best and ensure that grows and expands!

I went to work Jubilee by Yaadie In St. Croix on Saturday with the intention to have great night, we had many reservations , my staff was prepped and ready to go, then VI Water and Power Authority light went! I had to cancel
My reservations, send my staff home and lock up shop. Hoping that Sunday morning would be different for my brunch service, I arrived and still no power, we proceeded anyway as it was sunny enough to see and had some gracious customers who enjoyed their meals despite the inconvenience of no power. We ran service till close!

Had to transfer my refrigerated stuff, dispose of some stuff etc! Got home and no power there either! It’s now Monday Morning, I still have no power at my restaurant nor home, food in the trash etc. Who compensates me for that? When my staff comes to work to earn their money and I have to send them home because I cannot open due to lack of power or the road is dug up , how does that make a business sustainable!

When there is a a huge ditch in the sidewalk in front of your business for months and someone falls into it who assumes that liability?!

Opening a restaurant is already a tedious act, but with all these other hurdles it makes it impossible at times to remain optimistic and motivated. But I still go on!

It’s been a dream to open my own restaurant and here I am doing it but My Goodness, but these circumstances are draining!
