The opening track proper is 'De Cago' by Rolando which I first heard 10 years ago in Ben Klock's seminal Berghain 04 compilation, easily the my most-listened mix of all time. I'm thus treating yesterday's announcement of the Likdo Launch Party with Ben Klock (Berghain, Germany) as a good omen. After a rough few years, Hanoi/VN/the world's nightlife is on the up-and-up and we are here for it - See you on a dancefloor soon!

Episode 7 of the Crystal Q***r Power Hour, the Q***r Rap/Chanting/Mcing Special, is available to stream on Mixcloud!

This show was initially planned as the 'Q***r Hip Hop Special', spotlighting only q***r, non-binary or trans rappers or hip hop artists like Cakes Da Killa, Le1f, Quay Dash, Junglepussy, DonChristian, Mykki Blanco and of course, Lil Nas X. The net was widened upon reflecting that early 90s MCs and chanters like Kevin Aviance and Miss Tony played the same role for their communities as early hip hop stars did, giving a voice to and acting as figureheads for marginalised groups who otherwise found it hard to see representations of themselves in media that reflected how they felt about themselves. This meant we could also include some modern day artists still carrying on the torch of chanting or spittin' bars over q***r dance music like KEVIN JZ Prodigy, Bbymutha and ZEBRA KATZ.

We are so excited to announce that tomorrow night on Hà Nội Community Radio is the first ever CQPH special, with a full two hour show for your earholes.

The first hour is a special mix from host Sera Tonin comprised entirely of tracks spotlighting emerging female, Trans and Non-binary artists making electronic music today. No Straight White Males allowed.

Afterwards comes a debut for the show, an hour long guest mix from new Savage Resident DJ and style icon Nyjah.

The show airs from 8-10pm (GMT+7) tomorrow night at www.hanoicommunityradio.com and will be available on Mixcloud shortly after! Check it out!

We’re very excited to welcome a brand new show for the q***r community this Friday - Crystal Q***r

Crystal Q***r was a collective of drag queens, DJs and visual artists, established in 2020, who aimed to bring their own fierce and wacky LGBTQ+ influence to Hanoi’s nightlife.

The Crystal Q***r Power Hour on Hanoi Community Radio is a phoenix emerging from the flames of endless lockdowns with the same goals as it always had – to showcase q***r sounds for q***r folks to dance around to.

Each week on the air will include a mix, this week from yours truly, Ms Sera Tonin, one of the founders of CQ. Get ready to fall in love with the freshest, tastiest and most peculiar sounds from across the spectrum of dance music which is brought by the spirit of ‘taking being silly very seriously’.
