Currently, pesticides used in Vietnam are very diverse and are supplied from many different sources, including large companies worldwide, such as Syngenta, Bayer, BASF, Dow AgroSciences, Monsanto, Dupont ...
The export and import of pesticides in Vietnam is carried out by Article 67 of the Law on Plant Protection and Quarantine and Circular No. 04/2015/TT-BNNPTNT dated February 12, 2015, of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the 9 months of 2022, the amount of imported pesticide raw materials and finished products is worth 758 million USD. Among them, the amount of exported pesticides accounts for 25% of the total value of imported pesticides. The main export markets for pesticides include the following countries: Taiwan, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, USA and some other countries.
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠
In response to the needs, our country currently has more than 400 businesses and organizations participating in registering and trading pesticides. Additionally, there are over 85 factories involved in processing and packaging pesticides. In addition, our country records that 21/63 provinces and cities have establishments that produce and package pesticides. Production facilities are concentrated mainly in 4 southern provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, D**g Nai, and Binh Duong.
According to statistics from the Plant Protection Department, Vietnam currently has 32,649 pesticide dealers. The above agent system is mainly built into a satellite network of pesticide businesses. With a basic 3-level pesticide distribution network (some companies also distribute directly to level 2 agents) and large quantities, it is convenient to supply plant protection materials.
𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐬, 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬
In managing pesticides, the Party and State advocate sustainable socio-economic development, develop safe agricultural production, and promote trade promotion to create conditions for export. Besides promoting socialization and administrative reform in pesticide management, using pesticides by regulations ensures safety for humans, animals, plants, the environment, and food safety.
Furthermore, promoting information about the importance of advanced crop protection solutions and the role of responsible use of pesticides cannot be overlooked. The promoting information helps increase awareness among farmers and communities about this issue. These activities play an important role in improving the effectiveness of state management of pesticides and contribute to building green, clean, and sustainable agricultural production.
