What makes a media campaign successful, especially when you’re launching into a brand-new market with very little to say (yet)?

📚 In late 2024, Aspire Hub, a long-standing tuition centre brand from Singapore, opened its very first centre in Vietnam. With minimal localised content and no prior media presence here, Jolen was tasked with building brand credibility from the ground up.

🎯 Our strategy focused on smart media collaboration:
We crafted a message that resonated with Vietnamese parents seeking premium education, then identified journalists who could help tell that story with nuance and trust.

💡 The result?
10 strong, positively toned coverage pieces across Tier A & B outlets, reaching thousands of parents in Aspire Hub’s target group.
👉 Total PR value: nearly US$ 9,000 - all from earned media.

The takeaway:

📌 3 ways to boost creativity when you hit a wall at work

Even the most creative minds at Jolen hit a wall sometimes. When that happens, we don’t panic - we get curious. Here are 3 simple ways we reboot our creative thinking when things get stuck:

1️⃣ Ask “What if…?”, and keep going 🔍
Stuck in the same old brainstorm loop? Start throwing out “What if…” questions.
Examples: What if the campaign had no words? What if we launched it in the metaverse?
Curiosity breaks the pattern. Creativity follows.

2️⃣ Switch environments, even for 10 minutes 🌱
Take a walk. Change seats. Grab a coffee with someone outside your team.
Different inputs = different outputs. A curious shift in surroundings can refresh your perspective instantly.

3️⃣ Do something unrelated, but stimulating ✏️

“Chaos? Challenge accepted. PR exec builds strategy one bold move at a time.🙋🏻‍♀️”

2️⃣ What career did you dream of as a kid, and how different is it from PR?
“I was a dreamy kid with a rotating list of dream jobs - astronaut, Indiana Jones-style explorer, novelist🚀. Turns out PR is the perfect mix: part storyteller, part adventurer, and occasionally surviving chaos like it’s outer space.”

3️⃣ What is one characteristic you think people in PR should have?
“Resilience. In PR, you need the grace of a diplomat and the tenacity of a marathon runner.🏃🏻‍♀️”

4️⃣ If Jolen had a mascot, what would it be and why?
“A chameleon in designer sunglasses - adaptable, stylish, and always ready to blend into any situation while standing out.”

5️⃣ What is a random skill or talent that few people know about you?
“I have a weirdly good memory for birthdays, even ones from people I’ve just met, as long as I’ve been to their party at least once.🎉”

6️⃣ What is your favourite office snack?
“Dark chocolate. It starts as a tiny nibble to stay focused… and suddenly the whole box mysteriously disappears.🍫”

7️⃣ What is the most unexpected item on your desk?
“A collection of black and coloured pencils, even though I don’t sketch or write with them much. They’re just there, silently judging my digital life.✎”

8️⃣ If you could have lunch with any public figure, dead or alive, who would it be?
“Anna Wintour. I’d love to discuss the power of storytelling, the evolution of media, and of course, get some fashion tips. I heard her go-to lunch is steak and I certainly won’t mind a good one.😊”

🔥Bonus question: From your perspective, what is the secret to staying creative?
“Stay curious and embrace the unexpected. Creativity thrives when you’re open to new experiences, willing to take risks, and not afraid to colour outside the lines. And reading or watching random contents one can find on long haul flights sometimes works for me too.🤓”

“I dreamed of becoming an author or a scriptwriter. It’s actually not that different from PR - both involve crafting stories, playing with words, and creating something that captivates others.” 📝

“Communication, of course! You need to speak clearly so your message lands exactly the way you intend.”🗣

“A chameleon - no doubt about it. We adapt, we blend, and we thrive in every challenge and brief thrown our way.”

“I wouldn’t call it a talent, but I love playing music. It’s my happy space.” 🎶

“Eye drops. I’ve got sensitive eyes, so they’re my little sidekick at work.” 🤓

“My all-time favorite band, Linkin Park, especially Chester Bennington. I never got to attend their concert, so I’d love a mini lunchtime concert just for me!” 😁
