I am really old: from my undercroft to the top of my bell tower, I reflect my age with architectural details. I am a wonder of neogothic beauty and a monument to all the people who have loved me and prayed with me over the years.

Congratulations to Theresa and Kyle on their marriage!

This year in campfirmation, we have been wondering together - where is Jesus? At last weekend's overnight retreat we considered how we meet Jesus in the quiet, in silence, and especially in prayer. We practiced praying the hours, closed our evening with Taize worship, visited a cemetery, made prayer beads (and prayed with them), played games, and so much more. We are thankful to St James Payette for their beautiful space for a retreat - the sanctuary, kitchen, fellowship area, and sleeping dorms. What a wonderful 18 hours away to meet Jesus where we are.

Precious Days
Carolyn Wesner

“Oh it’s a long, long while from May to December; but the days grow short when we reach September” as the old song goes. These are lyrics about the seasons of our lives, and about how short the days, months and years become as we get older – they are precious days! The Old Testament scriptures remind us also to “remember our creator in the days of our youth”, just going to show that all the days of our lives are meant to be lived fully and with joy.
What does “precious” mean anyway? The dictionary says it’s a descriptive word, an adjective, about an object, substance, or resource of great value; not to be wasted or treated carelessly. What is of great value to you? Money, children, house, car? You wouldn’t want to treat any of these carelessly or wastefully! How about time, health, or friendship? Some people view their friendship with God as very precious – something to be made the most of, treated with great value and respect on every precious day, not just once a week or on special holidays, or never.
In the New Testament part of the Bible, Jesus told his audience that God loves the world – a LOT! Even though the scriptures are very old writings, with customs and language very different from our own, the message of Jesus still carries through today: we are precious in God’s sight, all the time, every day. Seems like it would be a waste of that wonderful resource if it was to be ignored or left unrecognized. Other things can let us down: wealth, position, even friends or family, but God always loves.
The end of the “September Song” says: “September, November – these few precious days I’ll spend with you!” Spend some of every precious day with Jesus, no regrets.
All are welcome at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Sunday service at 10 a.m. and please stay for coffee hour afterwards.

This joke is personal for us! For 4 years we have been trying to gently and compassionately to remove the squirrels from our church attic and bell tower..without success. We close one opening, squirrells open another. Clever!

After a particularly mild winter the small town of Chestermere became infected with squirrels in the spring. Because the local churches had the best trees, the squirrels often congregated (pun int…

Using a leased venue for events offers several benefits, including:

1. Flexibility: Leasing a venue provides flexibility in terms of event size and duration. You can choose a venue that suits the specific requirements of your event, whether it's a small gathering or a large conference. Additionally, you can typically negotiate the lease terms to accommodate your desired event duration.

2. Professional Infrastructure: Leased venues often come equipped with professional infrastructure and amenities necessary for events, such as sound systems, lighting setups, stage equipment, and seating arrangements. This saves you the hassle and cost of arranging these facilities separately.

3. Customization: Leasing a venue allows you to customize the space according to your event's theme or branding. You can decorate the venue, set up displays, and create an ambiance that aligns with your event's objectives. This level of customization can enhance the overall experience for attendees.

4. Accessibility: Many leased venues are strategically located in easily accessible areas with ample parking or public transportation options. This makes it convenient for attendees to reach the event, ensuring a higher turnout and better participation.

5. Expertise and Support: Leased venues often have dedicated event management teams that can assist you in planning and executing your event smoothly. They can provide guidance on logistics, technical aspects, and event flow, leveraging their expertise to ensure a successful event.

6. Cost Savings: Leasing a venue can be a cost-effective option compared to building or owning a dedicated event space. By leasing, you can avoid expenses related to construction, maintenance, and long-term ownership, allowing you to allocate your budget to other critical aspects of the event.

7. Networking Opportunities: Leased venues often host a variety of events, which means there's a chance of cross-pollination between different audiences. This provides an opportunity for attendees to network with professionals from various industries, potentially leading to new collaborations, partnerships, or business opportunities.

8. Scalability: Leased venues offer scalability options, allowing you to adapt the space to accommodate a growing or shrinking number of attendees. If your event's attendance exceeds expectations, the venue management can often provide additional space or resources to meet your needs.

9. Risk Mitigation: Leased venues may have built-in risk management measures, such as insurance coverage and safety protocols. This can help mitigate potential liabilities associated with hosting an event, ensuring the safety of attendees and protecting your interests.

Overall, leasing a venue for events provides convenience, customization, professional support, and cost-effective solutions, enabling you to focus on creating a memorable and successful event experience for your attendees.

This morning I woke up and went to make my coffee. On the window sill is a basil plant my friend Ingrid gave me 2 months ago to care for because she and her husband were leaving on vacation. The plant now has overgrown the pot, it is becoming root bound. And there is not enough soil for this plant i...
