Hi all! We sorta disappeared for a bit! This was not the plan, but sometimes life gets in the way and you have to follow some less traveled paths for a bit!
We are still here and we have missed interacting with you all. We wanted to share a bit of our autumn wanderings with you.
1. We, Phoebe and Angela both volunteered in the weeks leading up to the election to have kind and civil conversations about getting out to vote. Since moving back to PA , our challenge has been to promote tolerance and understanding with those that may differ with our own political leanings and to listen and engage with courage and kindness. Phoebe enjoyed working the polls on Election Day and seeing democracy in action. But whew, that is hard work to do in a divided country and it definitely took a lot of emotional energy.
2. Phoebe and Philip finally made it to Arizona to visit with his family for a few days. The lessons of the desert and its people (resilience, adaptation, interdependence/reciprocity, and determination) were a much needed meditation and encouragement for a very tired and worn out post election Phoebe.
3. The work on the farm continues although the field crew have cut back to just one or two days a week. The extremely warm weather and drought conditions have delayed the tulip planting but have made the dahlia digging, perennial weeding, pruning and mulching very pleasant. Poppies, ranunculus and anemones are popping and it’s going to be a lovely spring!
3. The scariest hurdle has become our greatest joy! Niece Riley’s kidney transplant happened on Tuesday this week and was a success! Hero Andrew, married to my niece Chandler, donated a super kidney to cousin Riley and both are now recovering in Columbus much to our relief and delight! To say that our hearts are extra full of gratitude this Thanksgiving is an understatement!
4. This weekend kicks off the Holiday season and we will be gathering all kinds of beautiful greens and botanicals for holiday wreaths and centerpieces! We also have some amazing ideas for gifts this season from gift certificates (stocking stuffer perfection), to workshop tickets, to CSA Memberships! Stay tuned!
