The arctic winter has come to visit for a few days which changes our routines on the ranch. The cold is brutal but there is beauty in the predawn sky and in the moments when the animals catch your eye.
In the dead of winter the cold, snow and ice linger... But soon we will be back to green grass, grazing ruminants and panting dogs
Heading out of the corral after the snow storm
Life for the heifers is getting back to normal after the storm and frigid cold

The Power of Being LOVED!
This little dog showed up at the ranch this week. Scared, hungry and abandoned.
She was shaking and scared as she had been dumped. The ranch is somewhat remote so she was not a neighbors dog. She is older and has some health issues...
My neighbor Cathy Meyer took her in.. look at how happy she is!
God Bless Cathy!
Grazing Kansas in December
The chickens are settling into their winter compound.. 4 mobile coops to visit, straw to protect from the wind and to scratch in.
The concept is simple. Grow things, reproduce things, sell things and repeat.
Nothing simple in the execution of it all. Everything is REAL! The pretty moments, the hard moments, the sad moments all make it a real experience.
Our daily cattle moves allow me to greet the herd and tell the calves like 4907M that.... I love you!
