Her bridesmaids floated from room to room, getting their hair & make up done and getting dressed. Emely was, after years of dating, travelling and so much laughter, plus a pandemic, a couple of lockdowns and 3 new wedding dates, marrying the man of her dreams. She exited her ‘bridal suite’ and took a deep breath, ready for the first look.
Emely and Rayni met in high school and remained friends for years until they went their separate ways. When their paths crossed again a few years later, they spent the entire night talking and, well, falling in love. Years later, during - another- lockdown, they decided they’d just try to have fun with whatever the day threw their way, and celebrate love, now. Glasses were raised in honour of their love…and their perfect day. With a surprise party in the middle of the road and a collection of short messages from all their friends and family that could not physically attend the wedding, the night turned out so incredibly special.
When they went on their first date, his father dropped him off (he was just 17) at the restaurant and wished him luck. He knew Isabella was special, as Arnaud was quite nervous on the way over. After dinner they walked out of the restaurant under a darkened sky. They’d met a few weeks earlier as friends and spent many nights chatting online, until Arnaud asked her out. An unforgettable evening led to a proposal nearly eight years later at the beach in Morocco, where he dropped to his knee and asked Isabella to marry him.

When they met in high school, they were just friends. And they remained friends until Rayni left to study abroad, then lost contact.
Years later, when they both visited Curacao again for the holidays, Emely & Rayni met again at a party. Within moments, they were chatting and it was clear they shared a special connection. The rest of the night, they remained by each others' sides until it was time to leave.

Isabella & Arnaud’s wedding was years in the making, with rescheduling due to covid, cutting back the guest list, changing locations due to curfews and new timelines. The friends and family that gathered to wish the couple well, were determined it shined of perfection. And it did, Their day was simply a reflection of their love…for each other and those around them.

A perfect breeze rolled through the window of her bridal suite as Maria, her sisters and mother were enjoying every minute of helping Maria get into her wedding dress. The day had finally arrived, after spending months planning for a beautiful wedding with friends and family. They met in The Netherlands, where Emanuel came to find out Maria is focused and—once she sets her mind on something—is relentless until her goal is met. Her goal was to marry her best friend and so she did, on a tropical island they had moved to years before.

Their paths crossed in The Netherlands, when visiting mutual friends who had just welcomed their first baby. Shortly thereafter, with the help of some friends that made sure they did not leave without exchanging phone numbers, she happily accepted his invitation for sushi. And their love blossomed from there.

For two days they celebrated. The first day their civil wedding ceremony at Santa Barbara Resort, the second day at Santa Famia Church in Otrobanda, with a huge party at the Santa Barbara Resort again. With a ballroom filled with trees and plants gathered from Kaydee’s mom’s garden. The day was filled with surprises, from a choir in church to a serenade during the party at night. And everyone’s favourite surprise artist, Ataniro.

They met while celebrating carnival. Gilio, who was living in The Netherlands, saw Genevieve the minute she walked into a party and was immediately struck with her charming smile. Within moments, they were chatting. After the carnival, Gilio had to go back to The Netherlands. It did take them a couple of months to re-connect, but chatting online they started the correspondence that changed the course of their lives.

We first spoke on the phone, after she sent a sweet message to explain her wedding plans. Genevieve and Gillio both have Caribbean roots, and they were considering having their wedding in Curacao. When that turned out to be impossible due to important family members they really wanted present, she inquired if I'd be interested in traveling to her home country for a wedding in The Netherlands. From the moment we connected, I knew we would make a dream team. So it was an honour to be her wedding photographer!

Jonna and Andre walked mangled paths, intersecting at different moments in their childhood and later both living in New York. It took a dating app for them to finally connect in a city with 8.5 million people. They chose the house where once his grandparents had lived, as a backdrop for their wedding ceremony and celebration. Elizabeth & Bryan are destined for a long life of love and commitment, and laughter. Lots of laughter. And dogs. And therefore they celebrated for an entire weekend.
The couple dated for eight years when Bryan proposed to Elizabeth on a beautiful Sunday morning with their dog as part of their family, she readily agreed and started planning their wedding at Landhuis Jan Thiel in Curacao.

Stephanie and Manuel’s paths crossed at various moments, but the right moment was at a wedding where Stephanie attended with one of her friends (that set this all up, I still need to thank him), not knowing that Manuel was going to be there too. They enjoyed an amazing night that was the beginning of their relationship. Through the years they created so many beautiful memories together, traveling to Europe and the US, when one day, Manuel invited her to a beautiful garden in New York, to propose, to which she readily agreed.

Luis admitted he first fell in love with hear beautiful eyes. Which is not hard to believe…I mean, who doesn’t?! But that together with her smile, personality, and her support in everything in life, made her the woman he wanted to make memories with.
7 years ago, Luis asked her out on their first date. They went for dinner at a restaurant at the beach where they spoke for hours. Both knew that this was something special and not long after that, they officially became a couple. Fast forward to December 2016, when Luis’ cousin invited them to go for a walk in the city center at night, to admire all the christmas lights that would be up. Everybody was taking photos, Luis & Sofia too. But when their picture was taken, Luis pulled her back and at that moment, she knew what was coming.

Over five years ago, Shannon noticed a handsome young man in a photo of the band her father was part of. She did not expect too much from it since they lived so far away from each other, but when Raniër came to the island not long after that, they were introduced by a friend, or a cupid, as they call it was clear to both them and the people surrounding them, that they would never be alone again.

One of the most beautiful things that tie Alexandra & Arthur together is their love of dogs and their dedication to rescue and caring for them. Despite both having busy full time jobs (Alexandra runs a family business and Arthur is a doctor), they feed, rescue and foster dogs. Which is why Arthur fell in love with Alexandra, her love and dedication was even more impressive than her beauty. And that’s why we even rescheduled our trip abroad. When she finished her hair & make up and got into her dress, she took one more sip of her champagne…and a deep breath.
Dario, after giving us the biggest hugs because we had not seen each other in a couple of years, finished his final touches in the next room. Being with them in these moments before the ceremony started, it was clear they both felt overcome with excitement. As soon as they held hands at the ceremony, everybody could see that they’re the happiest when they are together. ..

14 years after their adventure started, two years after their wedding day, we finally scheduled the infamous Trash The Dress Session. When I asked them what they still love about each other after so many years…the secret turns out the be, laughter and then some... Chabela: "Nobody can make me laugh like Paulo does!". "And nobody laughs about all his craziness like I do!".
