Speakers On The Corner is a part of a family of Community Interest Companies based at On The Corner, a community hub currently being established in The Barras, Glasgow. Speakers OTC will be a multifunctional rehearsal and live performance venue, focusing on education, skills-exchange, confidence building & empowerment with accessability for all. We are especially committed to providing a platform
for those underrepresented in the arts: whether artist, technician or audience member. Currently, Speakers OTC is in its formative phase, staffed solely by volunteers. WE NEED YOU
We're keen to recruit those with construction skills as the venue is currently being renovated and refitted, as well as administrative volunteers to help in the office. The curtain won't go up in full for several months yet but its not just our ethos that's progressive, our opening is too. We have already plans in motion for events before the end of the year 2015. Get in touch if you would like to see the space for your own rehearsals or events. From film screenings, live theatre, exhibitions, spoken word, live music, corporate functions and discussion groups, whatever you want to do, we want to hear from you. We also welcome all donations of equipment – sound, light, A/V, infrastructure, working or otherwise as our ethos is to reuse and upcycle werever possible whilst giving our volunteers the chance to learn new skills. Speakers OTC is a not-for-profit venture with limited funding at present. We offer in-kind volunteer reimbursement: shadowing & training in all aspects of technical theatre, free venue hire & assistance with event planning and creative networking in conjuction with our other partners in the building. Above all, Speakers OTC aims to be a professional, caring and safe environment for all creative minds. This is why we have chosen to become a dry venue.
