Thank you Superior Ready Mix of Texas for allowing us the opportunity to cook for y’all at the 9th Annual Cibolo BBQ Cookoff.

When the smoke cleared we were fortunate enough to give up some tickets and walk away with some hardware!
37 Teams:
Chicken: 🤷
Ribs: 3rd
Brisket: 3rd
Cooks Choice: 🙅‍♂️

Good enough for 6th overall. Congrats to all who gave up their numbers!

GTC made the trip to Concan, America for the 10th Annual Neals Invitational Cook-Off. By far this is our favorite cook-off, so much fun cooking with a full kitchen and a full house of GTC team members. The weekend was busy as we had to squeeze in cooking between a ton of constant partying!

When the smoke cleared and the last pickle shot drank we had a pretty awesome weekend!

73 Teams:
7th Beans
6th Cooks Choice
1st Stupid Chicken
6th Rib
3rd Overall out of 73!

Congrats to all who gave up a number and to Jackie Milligan on RGC and Tait Stanush on a monster GC!

Folks, Tait is 16yrs old and whooped up on some amazing cooks, he is the future and the next generation for sure!!!

GTC along with 35 other teams made the short trip over to The Roundup Music Venue for a nice little invitational. Awesome host, awesome venue, overall just an awesome cook-off! When the smoke cleared we had a pretty good day winning a couple of RB Custom buckles and some nice pocket change:

3rd Chicken
Ribs no show
1st Brisket (s) Lol!

Good enough for RGC! Congrats to Cowboy Up on their GC!

GTC made the short trip to the Good Bull Ranch for the 14th Smithson Valley Annual Ranger Smoke-Off. With Xavier being in Uvalde playing in the pens and getting stepped on by horses, I knew I had my work cut out for me.

Saturday went really smooth except for chicken, I HATED IT! Jimmie's beans were awesome, I really liked my new ribs, and my brisket was consistent as ever. I hated my chicken so much that at the awards shouted, "Can we skip to ribs!?"

Awards:
5th Bean (Jimmie Hayden)
1st Chicken (I was shocked)
3rd Ribs
? Brisket

Good enough to tie for RGC, but ended 3rd overall out of 47 teams.

Congrats to Brian Bridger on GC & Ricky Gonzales on RGC, (Big Sur BBQ) as well as Bob Bryant & Will Brown (Do No Harm) on some monster calls, and Brandon Taylor on walking in all 3 meats!

Thank you to our sponsors for making all of this possible:
Bear Konstruction
Grout Works

GTC made the 800 mile trip to the 8750' BBQ & Music Festival in Red River, New Mexico along with 35 other teams. It was cold and wet, but our drums ran perfect! We were happy with our turn ins and so were the judges.
3rd Stupid Chicken
10th Rib
3rd Brisket

Good enough for Reserve Grand! Congrats to Kit Polk a monster repeat GC, and to all others that heard their number. It’s safe to say, New Mexico likes South Texas bbq!

Thank you David Tondre for smooth ran event!

GTC traveled to Salado, Tx. (My Second home) to represent BD Concrete & Wild Angels Boutique in the 2nd Annual Salado VFD BBQ Cook-Off. To say we had fun would be an extreme understatement!

I think there we’re 37 teams, when the smoke cleared we weren’t overly happy with some of our turn ins, and the judges agreed.

WAB ( Cooked on Geraldine):
11th Rib
6th Brisket

BDC (Cooked on Drums):
1st Brisket (Two Years in a row)

Congrats to Breaktime BBQ on repeat GC and Sam Baca on RGC, and to all who’s number called

Thank you Chris Hammack (BD Concrete) and Jessica Shelden (Wild Angels Boutique) for letting GTC handle the work, it was our pleasure!

What an amazing weekend at our favorite cook-off of the year, the 9th Annual Neals Lodges Invitational. We entered everything and gave it our all, some we tried a little harder on than others, lol. We always want to do our best, but the one meat category we’ve never walked in is Stupid Chicken, we wanted it bad, as I’m sure 70 other teams wanted it as well!!!!

Beans: 12th
Cooks Choice: ——
Bloody Mary: ——
Chicken: 7th 🎉
Ribs: 15th
Brisket:——
Dessert: ——

Brisket was awesome as usual, but the profile just wasn’t there for this set of judges. In fact, several great brisket cooks got shut out, that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Ribs and chicken, we made some adjustments and it payed off.

Congrats to my boy JD Williams with Droptine Cookers on RGC, whom donated all his winnings back to support the Concan VFD. And a super huge standing “O” to La Reyna, Jackie Milligan with Team Chupacabraon with a monster GC.

Congrats to all that gave up a ticket and/or heard your number this weekend, Neal’s ain’t no slouch of a cook-off, we’ll done!

Lastly, thank you Charlynn and her band of super humans, aka SA Rodeo BBQ Committee for running a great judging tent!

GTC stayed close to home and cooked the Friends of Flint cook-off at the amazing Good Bull Ranch in Spring Branch. Low turn out (18 teams), but it was still a tough group of cooks on-site. When the smoke cleared we had a pretty strong day:
1st Place Bean (Jimmie Hayden)
3rd Place Stupid Chicken
4th Place Ribs
3rd Place Brisket

Which carried us up to Reserve Grand Champion! Congrats to all that heard their numbers and to Regi-Q BBQ on GC, and thank you to Friends of Flint and the committee for a great job and super fun event!

First and foremost, thank you Will Brown for volunteering to be the all time dishwasher for THREE TEAMS! If you cook, you know that’s huge!

GTC made the short 13hr/ 770 mile trip to our 2nd favorite cook-off! We traveled with Fire & Smoke and Do No Harm, and met up with some other South TX Teams, Kyotee Kookers, and Heavy BBQ, and took over an area and named it “South TX Corner”!

Geraldine (Our pit) really struggled maintaining heat, but we still turned out some decent proteins. It seemed to be a tough day for most of us that weren’t cooking on a drum. We ended with a 6th Place “Stupid” Chicken and a 9th Place Brisket. Good enough for 9th overall! The brisket walk was huge for us, that makes 10 straight brisket walks, by far our best streak ever! We’ll take it while it lasts!

Congrats to all who heard their numbers and to the “ever so humble” Kit Polk on GC, and Derek Bernal on RGC!!!

Special shout to Archie Donaho with Fire Smoke for a monster slump buster of a day, 2nd Rib, 1st Brisket, congrats brother!

GTC went to Cibolo this weekend for the 7th Annual BBQ Cook-Off benefitting youth scholarships. X couldn’t make it so our buddy, Mike Mahurin, volunteered to come help out with some of the pit management. Between the weather and Geraldine (My Pit) I think Mike was questioning himself about what he had gotten himself into! Once the storms rolled out and Geraldine decided to start acting right we had a pretty good showing. Out of 30 plus teams we were blessed to pick up some hardware.

2nd Place Beans
5th Stupid Chicken
8th Ribs
2nd Brisket

Good enough for Reserve Grand Champion. Congratulations to Danny Carroll on a monster Grand Champion, but sorry about your finger lol! Congrats to all who gave a ticket, see y’all at this next year! Thanks to &
Sherry Hay, Dave Hansmann, Josh Moss, and LeaAnn Zunker Gardner for dropping in and hanging out a bit!

GTC made the 15 minute trip to Good Bull Ranch for the SV FFA Smokin’ Clays & BBQ Cook-Off to join 37 other teams. We thought our products were pretty good, and for the most part the judges agreed and we went 4 for 4!
9th Beans
5th Stupid Chicken
3rd Ribs
9th Brisket
4th Overall

Congrats to all who gave up a ticket, especially Dustin Beaudoin on a monster 1st place Brisket, and to Andrew Hoel on GC and Gordan McCleary III on RGC!

GTC had a great time at the Bexar County Junior Livestock Cook-Off. This 49 team cook off turned out to be one the toughest we’ve cooked in a while. It was an all star shoot out for sure! At the end of the day we were very pleased with our proteins, but got mixed reviews from the judges.

13th FT Stupid Chicken
Ribs continue to be a no show
1st Brisket

Congratulations to Adam Luna on GC and Chris Davis on RGC, and to all others that got a walk!

GTC had the honor of representing BD Concrete at the inaugural Salado VFD Cook-Off sanctioned by CTBA. 42 teams came to play in the wind and rain, and at the end of the day we were super pleased with our products and the judges mostly agreed! More importantly, BD Concrete donated all monies won back to the Salado VFD. Thank you Chris and Jessica for the opportunity to represent. Teamwork makes the dream work!!!

1st Margarita (Jessica)
2nd Bloody Mary (Jessica)
Beans were a no show
8th Chicken
Ribs were a no show

GTC rolled into Concan America for our favorite cook off, Neal's Invitational. We arrived with little expectations and just happy to be back on the cooking trail with our friends and family. When the smoke cleared we were happy, confused, and over all blessed to be able cook, hear our numbers, and even give some up.

Beans 14th Place FT (53 Teams)
Chef's Choice 13th Place FT (52 Teams)
Chicken is stupid with a semi table knockout
Ribs were done done done and a first round knock out
Brisket (Meat Hussler) 5th Place (73-75 Teams)
Bloody Mary 1st Places
Dessert, everybody loved it but the judges

All in all it was a great weekend. Congratulations to all who gave up a ticket, and especially to Howl at the Moon for a monster GC repeat, and to Puro Vida on RGC!

Special shout to SA Rodeo BBQ Committee and Neal's Lodges for putting on a flawless event!!!
