Instagram is disabling the ability to share (and reshare) posts from your feed to Stories. The reason for this, according to Instagram, is that people don't respond very well to Stories that are these types of shares. Instead, people tend to respond better to unique content created exclusively for Stories. So, they’re testing this out. It may turn into nothing, or it may be the way it goes.
But before you panic, if Instagram does decide to do away with the option to share feed posts to Stories, you can still 'share' your posts. You just have to be a bit more creative in the approach. Here’s what you do:
1- Post your Instagram feed post as normal.
2- Open the Story camera and go to your gallery/camera and select the feed post image.
3- Then fit the image into the Story as you see fit and add your text, stickers, etc. like you normally would.
5- Add a call-to-action on your Story that says something like “see the whole post in my profile” or “visit my profile for the complete post” or whatever.
Boom. There you have it.
Instagram announced the change in a notification banner sent to users in 'select countries' where the test is being conducted. Which countries are participating is currently unsure.
Do you still have the ability to share posts from your feed to Stories?
