His name is Tristan, and he is 25 years old. "I'm just a regular guy with a big passion for music," he says. He has been DJing for 6 years now. Recalling standout moments from the early days of clubbing, a few artists come to his mind for their technical mastery. Names like Lag, Ø [Phase], Rødhåd, and a local favorite, Manthrax, stand out. He is driven by an authentic passion for music discovery, rather than following trends. His approach is intuitive—allowing one track to lead to another with no specific genre or label in mind. If it resonates, it finds a place in his collection.
The local scene is full of remarkable talent, many of whom are close collaborators and friends. However, as mentioned, Manthrax is someone whose sound and craft he particularly admires. His track selection and seamless mixing create a unique connection with the audience, cultivating an irreplaceable energy on the dancefloor.
Eaub began his journey as a DJ/producer in the summer of 2022, debuting with us on September 1st of last year. Since then, he's shifted his focus heavily toward production, with several unreleased tracks already in the pipeline. This year, he achieved a significant milestone by headlining at the Glitch Club Series.
Influenced by the hard techno sounds of artists like Carv, Sikoti, 999999999 and I Hate Models, EAUB also draws inspiration from groovy, hypnotic techno, counting DJs like Marron, François X, D.Dan, and Funk Assault among his favorites. For him, essential DJ skills include selecting the right tracks, reading the crowd, and staying composed under pressure in any situation.
He’s an active participant in the scene, regularly attending events that match his style and staying updated through SoundCloud and recent podcast sets. EAUB also deeply supports local talent, naming emerging artists like Inverted, DAMZ , STK, Millo , GEORG MT , Nikky , Patient, Echofaze, and Yazmin as key influences.
Reflecting on his journey, EAUB finds the most rewarding part of being a DJ is looking back to where it all began—spinning tracks on a DJ controller in his room—before progressing to organizing events at his favorite clubs in Malta and performing at major gigs, even gaining recognition abroad.
She goes by the stage name Yazmin and she has been DJing for around eight years, with the last four years dedicated to music production. From an early age, several artists shaped her passion for music. The first time she heard Paul Kalkbrenner, she was introduced to sounds unlike anything she'd ever experienced, igniting her journey into electronic music. Similarly, the duo Karenn Blawan & Pariah inspired her to dive deeper into the underground techno scene.
She believes that being a great DJ requires key skills: reading the crowd, respecting fellow artists on the lineup, and staying mindful of your time slot. While mixing is fundamental, a DJ should go beyond simply playing tracks—each set should tell a story, aiming to give the crowd an unforgettable experience.
In today's world, social media plays a crucial role. Following labels and artists on platforms like Instagram is essential for staying connected and informed. She also keeps up with new trends and releases through Bandcamp, Resident Advisor, and email notifications from the labels she follows.
Locally, there are many talented artists who have been influential in her career, such as Echofaze, Human Safari, Gordon Flash, Lenny, and others. These artists have inspired and supported her, motivating her to keep pursuing her passion.
Whether in the studio or behind the decks at a club, the feeling of DJing is indescribable. For her, the most rewarding part of this career is the happiness and peace it brings. Every time she plays, she feels like the happiest person on earth. Watching the crowd dance to her music is a deeply satisfying experience.
This week’s podcast features Darren aka Parvatis, a 26-year-old artist who needs no introduction. He first joined us in 2022 and performed at one of our events last year. With 4 years of DJing experience and 3 years of music production under his belt, Parvatis has been deeply influenced by the events he attended before the pandemic.
Music has been a part of his life since childhood, and transitioning from guitar to the electronic scene felt natural. He taught himself DJing and production, emphasizing the importance of skills like beatmatching and track selection. Parvatis believes that in today’s world, self-promotion and networking are crucial, as is being well-versed with various gear and performing under pressure.
He doesn’t follow trends or strict genres; instead, he plays and produces what feels right, from classic tracks to the latest releases. Parvatis looks up to Maltese artists Thomas (Natura2k) and Luke (Scythe) for their trance sounds, and cites Melchior Sultana, Human Safari , Yazmin , and the Indigo Collective as major influences on his hypnotic, groove-driven minimal sound.
For Parvatis, the most rewarding part of DJing in Malta is being part of a vibrant community, connecting with like-minded individuals, and collaborating. The ultimate reward is stepping off the stage, exhausted but knowing his set truly moved the crowd.
We're excited to welcome back GEORG MT , a DJ and artist who needs no introduction. His first appearance on our podcast was in 2022, and he also performed at one of our events last year. Now entering his 12th year in DJing, Georg has drawn inspiration from legendary artists like British-Canadian Richie Hawtin who sparked his passion for getting behind the decks and exploring the music scene.
Reflecting on his journey, he shares how important track selection and reading the crowd are to his craft, emphasizing the need to adapt sets based on the energy of the moment.
A firm believer in humility, respect for the scene, and keeping egos in check, Georg stresses the importance of evolving his sets to build energy, leaving the dancefloor in a better state than when he started. Since his last interview, he’s learned the value of studio sessions, especially when collaborating with friends to jam or discuss the industry. Shoutout to his good friend Muski , who has been a massive influence in the Maltese scene.
Georg also admires his brother DAMZ , who’s played a huge role in helping him reach key milestones in his career. He’s keeping a close eye on rising local talent,Fresh prince, who’s climbing the ranks in the Maltese DJ scene.
For Georg, the most rewarding part of being a DJ is seeing the unity on the dancefloor and the pure joy on people’s faces when he knows he’s delivered a perfect track. That moment of connection, even with just one person, makes it all worth it.
