Getaway Coaches Getaway’s Coaches is the original train coaches that was brought to the Van der Merwe-station which is situated just outside a small town called Rayton.

The trip down memory lane……… Where you lie on your bed in your compartment, and wait for a whistle to blow. Getaway’s Coaches is the original train coaches that was brought to the Van der Merwe-station which is situated just outside a small town called Rayton, about an half an hour’s trip from Pretoria. The Van der Merwe Station was situated on the railway line from Pretoria to Machadodorp betwee

n Koedoespoort and Rayton. It was also en route to Lourenco Marques and legend has it that the Kruger-millions were transported on this route and passed through this station. Certain buildings on the farm are still original as it was when the Van der Merwe-station was still in use. This is also the place where the Mineral water, Seltzbach was bottled in 1890 and transported from the Van der Merwe-station to England. Our Accommodation……. The First class Coaches has three rooms with an en suite
bathroom. The rooms are the original size that the compartments
were on the old trains, just a bathroom was added to each. The Second class Coaches has six rooms with a very unique and beautiful sharing bathroom. Rooms may not be as spacious as your own 5 Star bedroom at home, but it is still much more luxurious than the ones your ancestors used to travel in. In our Economy class the trip down memory lane will definitely hit you. These rooms are the exact compartments the way it used to be in a bygone era. Even the bathrooms and toilets are still in their original state. Come and enjoy a trip down memory lane in these unique Coaches. One side of the Coaches were constructed as an entertainment area, which includes our bar.
