The name was founded by the owner’s husband who suggested naming the shop after their two daughters, Georgia and Emma = Gemma, and Bloom fitted well and gave the brand a romantic creative flair. Bronwyn Watson, the owner of Gemma Bloom wanted to create a shop that could feed her customers souls; she wanted to establish a place of creativity and beauty where customers could enjoy browsing, breathin
g in the floral fragrances and allowing all their senses to be awoken.
“I want my customers to enjoy the experience, I want them to feel what I feel when I am with flowers and beautiful decor, and I want my shop to be a place of refuge, a place where customers can always pop in and see what’s new and just relax.”

The Gemma Bloom team are up early every morning ensuring they get to the flower auction to buy the best quality and variety of flowers available to the South Africa market. Owner Bronwyn Watson says, “Buying the flowers ourselves on auction is very important, it allows us to control the quality we bring to our customers, we monitor the farmers daily and follow their quality very carefully. The flower auction is controlled by supply and demand, keeping our fingers on the pulse of our business is very important. For us this is critical.”

Who knows what the perfect gift is! The Gemma Bloom team love finding interesting and new gifts, they spend time sourcing new gifts and décor ideas. Keeping their eyes on the local trends that are influenced by the international market helps them keep ahead of the competition.
