Loving these pro pics from Dana and Shaun's wedding at Brahman Hills. This was such a fabulous celebration of colour and joy, we loved every minute of it, from placing the fruit on the tables to choosing bright colours to make the wedding everything that Dana wanted it to be, joyous and bright and, of course, with bougainvillea. I love using these little beauties when they are in season (which is now) - for boutonnieres, crowns, corsages and in bouquets, but we source them responsibly - and of course, we love the name "Blushing bride"

𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆

The Blushing Bride was officially discovered by Carl Thunberg in the Franschhoek mountains in 1773. It disappeared from the scientific annals for over 100 years and was generally accepted by botanists as extinct. Luckily it was rediscovered at the Franschhoek flower show in 1914 by Professor Herold Pearson.

During the 1930’s the number of known plants were found to be declining. A bush fire in 1943 destroyed any known wild population – but three years later 60 plants were found at the exact site of the fire.

The Blushing Bride is fast growing and forms an abundance of flowers. However, the plant has a relatively short lifespan and only produces a commercially viable crop for a few years. In the natural veld it is critically endangered, so rather purchase your plants from a reputable nursery.

We had the best day ever (yes we do have best days ever, almost every week, but this was exciting) at the wedding show at Love on the Lawn at Sweethome Weddings & Functions where we launched our fabulous new Serpentine tables... and we love them.... and so glad that the people who came to the show loved them too. Fede and Rox got married in December at Leadwood Lodge in Tala Collection Game Reserve. It was an amazing day... all of the planning was done via calls and WhatsApp's as they both live overseas, frequent discussions with Rox's mom... and we pulled it out of the hat.
