Cooking For Many is in Her Blood
Liza and the Valayadum family have a long history of cooking for many. They have been cooking and working with the poor and vulnerable for over 2 decades. In 2020, during the hard lockdown, the family prepared approximately 500 meals daily from their home and delivered them to the Far South and beyond.
It was through their passion and drive, in collaboration with CAN’s, that the My Father’s House Community Kitchen was established. My Father’s House has become synonymous with a helping hand in many of Cape Town’s poorest areas.
A primary source of funds for the organisation were the meals Liza cooked and sold to the community on behalf of the charity. This trade kept the doors open for the first year and has been instrumental since. Liza’s passion for food and cooking for others has always extended further than her philanthropical efforts.
This talented cook’s most recent forays into professional catering include events for the Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy, weddings, funerals, as well as exciting smaller events. This led to much discussion and ultimately the brave decision for Liza to launch a catering venture named ‘Your Plate or Mine.’
Liza’s experienced team provide fresh and tasty food for occasions of all sizes as well as premade-with-love meals for the freezer. They cater for events from 4 - 4000 and can provide a complete eventing solution including waiters, and event planning. Liza’s hubby, Shaddie is also a Pastor and Marriage Officer who has done lots of marriages in and outside the province.
