Established in 2015, Myphotocorner was created by acclaimed photographer Samir Abdul who sought to mix his love for photographing nature together with portraiture. Samir's photography journey started off as a hobby and quickly developed into a passion, where he continuously strives to improve his craft, under the patronage of leading professionals in the industry such as Brett Florens.

An Honored Opportunity 📸✨

Myphotocorner was privileged to capture a weekend of spiritual enrichment as Habib Muhammad Al-Aydarus visited Cape Town from 29 January – 2 February 2025.

A Legacy of Spiritual Connection
Habib Muhammad Al-Aydarus is a distinguished Islamic scholar from the noble lineage of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, carrying the legacy of the Ba'Alawi Sadat of Hadhramaut, Yemen. His teachings emphasize love, unity, and adherence to traditional Islamic values.

For centuries, Yemeni scholars have played a profound role in shaping the Islamic identity of Cape Town. The Hadrami scholars, particularly from Tarim, spread Islam through their wisdom, character, and deep-rooted spirituality. Their teachings reached the Cape through exiled scholars and spiritual guides, including Shaykh Yusuf of Macassar, who strengthened the faith of the early Muslim community under colonial rule. The recitation of Awrad al-Latif and other Yemeni spiritual traditions remain part of Cape Town’s Islamic heritage today.

A Weekend of Spiritual Enlightenment
Throughout the weekend, Habib Muhammad led soul-enriching gatherings, including:

📖 Wird Latif, Surah Yaseen & Class – Dar Al-Islam Masjid
🕋 9th International Dawrah – Masjid Al-Jamia, Claremont

It was a blessed weekend filled with light, knowledge, and spiritual connection. We are honored to have documented these moments of faith and unity, preserving the sacred bond between Cape Town and the scholars of Yemen.

@followers Tonights organisation we would like to focus on is Invisible Hands, an organisation which has become a beacon in our communities by fulfilling their mandate to feed the indigent and improverished communities. It was truly an honor to bare witness to their amazing work Alghamdulilah. Do check out their page to see how we all can assist them in their causes. Reminder, this week we focusing on all those organisations and mentors who have played a role in our growth and allowed us to follow our passion. Also, 10% of all confirmed bookings this week will go towards the flood relief cause.

The first message comes from Hasanain Abdullah, known in the running community but also his amazing work in the NGO space, namely with Awqaf SA.
