Durban Undersea Club, “DUC”, as it’s familiarly known, is a family orientated, social activities club for people that have an interest in the ocean and its beaches. The Clubhouse currently serves as a “home” to several sports, where water sport participants can meet and arrange sporting activities as well socialize and entertain guests. Although providing sporting related facilities and accommodat

ing water sport members is the main priority of the club, the club has a large social and family membership that use the clubhouse mainly for its easy access to one of Durban’s finest beaches as well as it’s safe environment, clean facilities and affordable food and beverage offerings. The beach in front of the new clubhouse is protected from large waves and currents by the Vetch’s pier breakwater, at +/- 500m long submerged reef which, along with adjacent limestone reef, is home to hundreds of species of marine life and is a great snorkel and or shallow Scuba Dive (max 6m depth).

Spring Tides Alert for New Year’s Day🌊

We would like to urge all beachgoers to stay safe as Spring Tides roll in from 31 December for a few days. With the new moon, expect:
➡️ Higher than usual high tides
➡️ Lower than usual low tides
➡️ Stronger rip currents

While beach conditions are set to improve with offshore winds from Tuesday, 31 December, we’ve seen some challenges recently, including blue bottles and sandblasting winds.

Important Safety tips for January 1st:
✔️ Swim only where lifeguards are on duty
✔️ Stick to marked safe swimming zones
✔️ Be cautious of rip currents and changing tides

Please help us make beach trips over New Year safe and enjoyable for everyone! 🏖️

The kids Christmas party was once again a roaring success! The children loved the foam pit and all the activities provided although, off course, Santa was the highlight of the day.

A great day was had at our 10hour swim challenge in the best conditions imaginable. Approx 80 swimmers started, with many people surprising themselves as to how far they can push themselves. At the end, we had 24 'last standers', remarkable indeed.

Father Christmas will be visiting the club on Monday 16th December. Besides Santa,
there will a jumping castle, foam pit and water slide for the kids from 9am as well as slushies and hotdogs.
To join in on the day, please do the following:
• Register your child by paying R50 on the MyClubAccount
• Purchase a present for your child to the max value of R300 or less
• Mark the present with your child’s name and bring it to the club office before 10am on Dec 16th.
