Monday last week we had the absolute best sighting thus far from the restaurant deck over looking the Gulu River 😁 a beautifully relaxed Cape Clawless Otter
We have seen some evidence that they are around but never actually seeing thembin the water so close
🤩 HOW EXITING 👏
Otters are carnivores - meaning they have powerful jaws and teeth adapted for stabbing, tearing, and eating fish
There are 13 different species of otters all over the world. Some are small river otters and some are bigger sea otters
Otters are very clever creatures, they'll use rocks to crack open food and store food in the loose skin under their armpits
River otters can keep their breath for 8 minutes where sea otters hold them for 5min 😳
A group of resting otters is called a raft 😌

Lets talk about Weavers 🪶
They build exquisite and elaborate nests structures.
Weaver birds are a group of several families of small passerine birds that are related to the finches.
They build their nests in a cylindrical shape with downward-facing, narrow entrances usually over or close to water. Reason being is to prevent potential predators to get inside. Some have long tunnels or tubes, extending the entrance further beneath the nest body.
We have AMAZING sightings of our local weavers a quick paddle up the River.
