The classic play with the much loved characters is opening on Friday, 12 July at 19:00
In George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion," the characters include Professor Henry Higgins, an eccentric and brilliant phonetics professor dedicated to transforming people's lives through speech modification. He is accompanied by Colonel Pickering, a distinguished phonetics expert and gentleman who contrasts Higgins with his polite demeanor. Eliza Doolittle, a spirited Cockney flower girl, becomes the subject of Higgins' experiment, transforming from a rough-edged girl to a poised lady. Mrs. Higgins, Henry's elegant and perceptive mother, provides a stable presence amidst her son's radical ideas. Mrs. Pearce, Higgins' efficient housekeeper, balances his eccentricity with practicality. Eliza's father, Alfred Doolittle, a charismatic dustman with a carefree attitude. Eynsford-Hill family represents the upper-middle class of Edwardian England. Led by Mrs. Eynsford-Hill, they embody gentility and social aspirations, though their financial situation is somewhat precarious. Her son, Freddy Eynsford-Hill, is charming but lacks direction, symbolizing the idle young gentlemen of his time. Clara Eynsford-Hill, Freddy's sister, is refined yet somewhat naive, aspiring to maintain their family's social standing despite their financial struggles. Finally, Nepommuck is a foreign language expert who judges the success of Higgins' experiment with Eliza Doolittle in the play's final act.
