WOW! Thank you for all of the support and returning clients, we had a thrill scaring you!

Thank you for all the laughs and those high pitched screams, while scaring, a lot of us couldn't stop laughing behind our masks. We hope no one is too traumatised.

Special thank you to Sue, Duncan and Evan for making this possible and to Hilton College for allowing me to use your Campbell teaching space again.

Thank you to my marvelous team, my dad for helping me with the structure and blackout, my mom and husband for babysitting my 14 week old while I set up and work and for running the ticket booth and all my creatures, Lindani, Zoey, Tristan, Nicola, Rachel, Dayna and Adrian, I could not have done this without you!

Thank you for your support this year! We are fully booked and private events are still continuing throughout the festive season, but holiday club ends 19 December. As I am working into January with Mermaid Calypso SA, I am not sure when we will reopen for holiday club just yet. However, with the ongoing renovations we are excited to welcome our Fairytale Flippers swimmers from February 2024 in Hilton. We wish you and your families a happy and safe festive season and are eternally grateful for the love and support we have received.

Our Story

The Fairytale Express specializes in film-quality character performers, face-painters, photographers & makeup artists for special occasions, children's parties, year end functions, & public events. Themed imported merchandise for all ages, accessories and children’s costumes

The Fairytale Express was founded by Carla de Kok in 2015 and officially opened 1 September 2015. Carla completed her BA degree in Film Arts specializing in Screen Acting and Production Design (2018) and an Events Management Course through the University of Cape Town (2019) and is currently completed a Level 5 TEFL course through The TEFL Academy UK (2020).

With a love and deep interest in fairy-tales, performing arts, costume designs and children, (being an only child) she decided to merge the worlds together. Initially Carla had planned to work abroad in a similar environment, however after attending The Geek Fest in a princess costume and seeing the children’s reactions, the dream became very clear. After several charity events, which became the driving force behind her character work, she decided to open The Fairytale Express as a Children’s Character Entertainment Company to bring magic to the lives of your little ones.
