With any kind of special event planning, there is a lengthy checklist of things to do. And with all that work and planning ahead, you may want to first check that you’re up for job at hand. Ideally, you’ll want to be in contact with your event planner all the time. You may find that you spend countless hours with them and have many lunch meetings trying to plan your perfect event.

You will need to stay involved with certain processes – like picking out décor and making final decisions about the flow of the event proceedings. With a good event planner onboard, you’re still in control but someone else handles all the time-consuming legwork and annoying details.

Unfortunately, nobody works for free. At the end of the day, you will have to pay the event planner and they are often not cheap. Finalise all your costs upfront before you sign on the dotted line. Also, make sure you have a written contract in place. You’ll need protection in case anything goes wrong, so you aren’t responsible for paying them if they don’t complete the job as they have agreed to.
