Our next artist spotlight for Kindred presents Ancestry are the founders of the Kindred movement Kindred Soundsystem.

Collectors and makers of the groove, Kindred Soundsystem is the production and DJ duo of Matthew Loots and Tyrone Platt. The Kindred movement was born from their friendship and a deep love for their community and house/tech music.

With a plethora of experience across the performance, studio and event space, their unique backgrounds and varied tastes provide a tapestry of sonic textures.

Their sound ranges from deep and afrocentric rhythms, transcending to progressive and organic house with tribal overtones and intelligent melodic techno grooves.

Our next Artist spotlight is on NYX. . We're very excited to welcome her and judging by the sets we've heard at her own NYX Events, were in for a treat.

(Nix) brings a certain inexplicable zest to every set she plays and has been consistently popping up on select underground and commercial line-ups all over Cape Town for the past 10 years.
Having played alongside International names such as Dave Seaman (UK), Alexey Sonar (Russia), Vertex (Serbia), Haldolium (Germany), Nick Warren (UK), Alex Cruz (USA), and local acts such as Protoculture, Dino Moran to name a few, NYX has certainly made her mark on the local club scene.

A DJ who thrives on her love for music, which is evident as she takes her audience on a musical journey, you can be sure that the dance floor is going on a sonic ride too! Best known for playing vocal to lounge-style and deep groovy melodic House sets, funky Tech, Retro Remixed Old School and Classics with a twist… you can be guaranteed that NYX. will bring event appropriate music to whichever floor she’s playing to. Always versatile & always gauging the crowd, NYX. enjoys entertaining at events, launches, clubs, milestone occasions or anywhere she can get behind the decks! With 13 years of DJing experience & with a Music Degree (Wits BMus) under her belt, NYX. displays a true understanding of style and music in her mixing, track choice and overall set presentation.

Our next artist spotlight for Kindred presents Ancestry is Owen S Rumble aka DJ OH! A true local talent with a versatile taste. He'll be warming up the dancefloor and setting the mood.

“DJ OH!”, of ‘ES-Cape Town Productions’, prefers playing heavy bass line tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it, regardless of genre, tempo, style or release date.
His musical choices combine elements of R&B, Hip Hop and all varieties of Deep Tech, Tech and House, along with Deep House Music, often accompanied by enigmatic vocals. You’ll find yourself drawn back in time with some choice re-mixes, and will be brought back with some ‘OH’ so dirty, epic bass drops.

“Music is my Escape!!”, being his tag line.
“For me, it’s all about people, the journey and the connection, as music is one of the most magical ways to release stress or stagnant energy, and to connect with one another. Our second headliner for Kindred presents Ancestry is none other than Leighton Moody - a firm favourite and a bastion of quality.

Leighton, also known as "Soulsideup" is a Cape Town-based DJ and co-founder of the well-known ''We House Sundays'' movement. Respected among dancers and music lovers alike, Moody has a unique way of storytelling through his DJ sets.

His love for fusing a variety of House Music textures and his ability to move dancefloors has seen him carve his own niche in the South African Deep House scene and abroad. Through his musical artistry, he subtly, yet powerfully, transports listeners through the various shades of House Music.

Through Moody's continuous efforts in the South African electronic music scene, he is able to consistently and mindfully impact the ever-changing House Music landscape and remains one of the key figures of the House Music scene - present, past, and future.

KINDRED SOULS - Wow what a weekend, one thing ringing in our heads is "Take me back!"
From the magic of RaveToRuins, to SANParks shutting us down with a hefty fine, to the social frenzy amongst locals over the party itself and waking up Monday to calls from News24.
THANK YOU to all of you who attended and made Saturday as magical as it was. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you for making it a reality.
We look forward to working with the heritage committee, the COCT and SANParks to get the appropriate permits and saftey protocols going forward. Keep your ears to the ground as we will be announcing our last event for the summer season soon.

Today is the day to ! We're looking forward to welcoming you later this afternoon at Leopards Rest Venue! (Behind the Bay Harbour Market)
Pre-sold tickets are still available at R100 or you can buy tickets at the door for the same price.
Just a few things to consider:
- Bring sun screen and hats/caps - protect yourself from the sun.
- The parking lot by the venue may be full, we will have extra car guards along Harbour road so you can park anywhere you find a spot up harbour road and your vehicle will be safe.
- Please respect the venue and the area, It's a beautiful space and we want to keep it that way!
