It was a 50th extravaganza, a night to be remembered. There was feasting and frivolity.

With canapés, 4 live food stations, a candy bar, dessert buffet and soft serve with toppings - guests did not go hungry.

It was a privilege to be chosen as the sole caterer for the Absa Cape Epic 2024 earlier this year.

For the first time ever, in the history of the Cape Epic, all catering was awarded to one caterer. It is an honour to work with the Epic team.

When you're not behind the scenes, it can be difficult to conceptualise how much food is prepped, cooked and served for an event of this magnitude.

What does it take to feed these elite athletes, crew and support?

🍴Approx 60 000+ meals were served over 8 days across 5 sites. From frozen meals in the recovery zones, to buffets, crew meals and the final gala dinner.

👊 Plus 1000's and 1000's of sandwiches, meatballs and potatoes at water points.
All dietaries accommodated.

The riders prove their grit and strength at the Epic.

The cooking and behind the scenes food logistics was EPIC!

JEM Catering is looking for an experienced Ops & Events Manager to join the team.

The applicant must have a minimum of 5 years operations experience within the events industry.
They also need to have experience in managing a team (small or large).

The role will be based out of the Glenesk office in Johannesburg and will require the successful applicant to travel locally and around South Africa.

The successful candidate will be required to manage all operations related to all events as well as attend events.

This means the applicant must be able to manage client relationships, conflict, last minute changes to events, keep a cool head under pressure and attention to detail.

This is not a WFH position. The successful candidate will be required to work from the office in order to manage operations and the events team.

Own transport is essential.
