I’m Meghan McCabe, a photographer and videographer based in Johannesburg, South Africa, specializing in motorsport, portraits, wildlife, and travel photography. My journey began in 2012 with motorsport, earning me the Motorsport South Africa Photographer of the Year award in 2013, which turned my passion into a career. Over time, I shifted my focus to capturing the serene beauty of African landsca

On social media I usually share the exciting, big-moment shoots — the “wow” stuff. But the truth is, being a full-time photographer and videographer also means shooting plenty of the more everyday, behind-the-scenes kind of work.

It might not be the most glamorous part of the job, but it’s one of the most important. Product images are a key part of any business — they showcase what you offer, build trust, and great photos should never be taken for granted.

Jacaranda season always seems to come and go in the blink of an eye — right when we’re all running on fumes and pushing through the final stretch before year-end shutdown.

So before the purple magic completely disappeared, and I headed out yesterday to capture what was left for the -Jacaranda in Your Pocket 2025 competition.

🌍 Botswana — What. An. Adventure.

My recent trip to Botswana was nothing short of extraordinary. Over two unforgettable weeks, we moved from camp to camp every two nights — each location revealing a new and completely unique landscape. From vast desert plains to wild, untamed bushveld and serene wetlands, every moment was a photographer’s dream.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be collaborating with Kalahari Wilderness camps and trails to transform this incredible journey into an unforgettable photographic adventure. 📸✨

And… I’m back from another unforgettable 15-day adventure through Botswana — and what a trip it was!

We began with an overnight stay on the Nwetwe Pan — a truly surreal experience under a blanket of stars and well the mostly full moon. From there, we ventured out on a mokoro trip, where this image was captured — nothing beats cooling off in the Okavango Delta!

Next, we made our way to Moremi, where we were treated to some of the most breathtaking elephant sightings I’ve ever experienced. After that, it was back to Khwai — a place I had the privilege of spending nearly three weeks at just two months ago. It was incredible to see how the changing water levels have transformed the landscape.

Then came Savuti — while the roads are challenging, the scenery is absolutely mesmerizing. And to round off the journey, we ended with a peaceful boat cruise along the Chobe River.

I simply cannot wait to share the incredible images and footage from this adventure with you all!
