Proof of life post 😂🙈

Sjo- this year has been magical and hard all at once. Juggling being a work from home mama (keeping a human and a business alive) is no small undertaking.

And my lack of posting is definitely proof of how some things have just taken priority.

I've actually loved 'stepping back' from the pressure of posting on here.

My focus has been on the 'behind the scenes' my brides, choosing a lesser workload so I can show up fully for my brides, and keep up with my workload while juggling the nap time hustle (and being present with Tobi as he grows)

It's been a year of 'less is more' and I'm grateful for it.

Contrary to popular belief - you can't do it all and do it well, and choosing to take on less work this year has been one of the best I've ever made. Mentally, creatively and for my family.

My year is pretty much fully booked (and I only have a handful of dates that I'm taking on for next year, so I can keep showing up for my brides in the way I would like to)

It's the month of love and I'm wanting to do something fun 😉🥰

Yes,I'm a sucker for heart shaped chocolate and date nights, so February always gives me the feels.

Especially when I have beautiful couples in love infront of my lens 😉

Here's to taking the photos you wish your husband would take 🙈😂

Mom's I get it now, your usually the one with your camera phone in hand, always taking the pics and seldom get those snugly pics of you and your bug.

So let's just say - family shoots have a new meaning to me now.

Last week I got to take pics of my dear friends, or was gloriously chaotic (but real and fun!) filled with tears, laughter, baby shark remixes and all the snuggles.

Made me think I should run a family shoot special so you can get some pics of you and your little bug.

Not only did 'n cry when I left home (not easy leaving you baba for the first time since he was born) but the wedding of these sweet souls was everything a photographer could dream of!

It's been a month of new and firsts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First time meeting the fur kids
First take away coffee and walk in the park
First bath and car ride
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're settling into a new normal of little sleep, unwashed hair, eating everything with one hand, and trying to figure out who he looks like (he's got my pinky toe so far - it's not much, but I'll take it 😂)

So, emails are a bit slow, social media might not be a priority but life is pretty special outside of the algorithm.

I’ve heard it all.

“This is the BEST JOB EVER!"
“I can't do this anymore.”
“I really love what I do - I'm pretty good at it”
“I suck Good-bye.”
“I think I know what I'm doing now”
“I hate this. I have no idea what I’m doing.”
“Wait. This might work”
“Give me all the awards!”
“I can’t imagine doing anything else”

Sound familiar?
Yeah, no one ever warned you of the rollercoaster of conflicting and crazy emotions you’ll feel as a wedding photogrpaher. Sometimes on a day-to-day basis sometimes!

It’s almost hilarious, the amount of extremes you can encounter in an 8-hour period.

But at the end of the day, if you’re really doing what you love, would you cash all those emotions in for anything else?

“Entrepreneurs are the only people who will work 80 hours a week for themselves to avoid working 40 hours a week for someone else.”

But let me just tell you this: pursuing your dreams doesn’t have to burn you out.

I know there are times you’re EXTRA tired from the hard work, but make sure you set a reminder to draw a line in the sand to rest!

Take it from me - I've been there (overachieving and burning the candle at all the ends)

Once I learned to step back, take a day and switch off - my work actually got better.

Mind clearer, purpose brighter, energy and drive restored.
Bliss!

So, take a day friend, rest is not optional it's essential!
(I'm cheering you on in this wild ride!)

3 THINGS YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IS THINKING AFTER MEETING WITH YOU.

I believe that connecting with your wedding photographer is a really big deal (we are going to be spending A LOT of time together!!

Here are some unfiltered thoughts that fly through my head after we’ve met up for a coffee…..

👉🏼 AH MAN! Those two have the sweetest freakin’ love story ever!!!!! They are so in love!!! He just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her, I bet he cries when she walks down the aise.

👉🏼 Okay, I LOVE their venue!! Man, I hope we get some good sunlight! I’m already mapping out where I want to do their couple session – and dreaming up composition ideas, and photo inspiration to tell their story!

👉🏼 Serious!!! I love it when a couple decides to embrace who they are, and break away from tradition to plan an intentional wedding!

👉🏼Did I say “AH, THAT’S AMAZING!!!!” too many times?????? I wonder if I scared them off……… is it too early to email them?
