This new indigenous garden is growing beautifully and happy. When you are in the main garden area with beautiful views of the Knysna Lagoon and landscape, it feels like you are perching on the edge of the gorge. In time the trees will enhance this feeling as they grow and continue to screen the garden walls, blending into the natural landscape and emphasising the views, acting as frames. We did the design of all the hard landscaping features including the outdoor kitchen, sunken lounge, hard surfaces, entrance driveway and fencing. We did the installation of the soft landscaping and Micklewood Construction installed the hard landscaping.

Rockeries create interest in a garden and provide the opportunity to admire the world of succulent plants in a setting where their texture, colour and form comes to life. Rockeries often appear to be separate and detached from the rest of the garden. Magic happens when they are subtly integrated with the various surrounding vegetation types or zones in the garden. They also enrich the biodiversity providing a habitat for many creatures. We designed and installed this large rockery in November and it is already starting to show its beauty.

Spring in our garden. Every season has its beauty but spring is the dance of new life, youth and revival of the garden. In my awakening to this beauty and harmony I find myself wandering into the mystery of life. I think of the still perfection of a flower suspended in space. Dancing in the lightest fresh breeze. And then I think of the dark cold distant universe lit up with stars made of turmoil and fire. How did it happen that we are here surrounded by and part of this beautiful life.

The beautiful display of flowers with the most unusual fragrance in our rockery at . This is the small prostrate Leucospermum ‘Hullabaloo’ with the mature flower head about 4-5cm diameter. They start as deep pink-red buds, the mature flowers are a cream-yellow colour and then turn to a rusty pink-red colour again.
