How Much Is Enough?🕊️
A Tribute to Nitro – My Boy, My Comfort, My Heart

I’m exhausted.
Exhausted from carrying the weight of a life that just never lets up.
Exhausted from watching the people (and pets) we love become collateral damage in a world ruled by money.

I recently had to say goodbye to my emotional support dog, Nitro — my child, my boy, my shadow. For 10 unforgettable years, we gave him a full life. He had toys, treats, bush walks, road trips, cuddles, and so much love. He was part of us. He saw what we saw. He felt what we felt.

Then one day, he couldn’t walk.

The vet said he needed an MIR— R5000 to R10,000, just to see what was wrong.
Then came the specialist visit, R2500 to talk about options
If there was nerve damage? Surgery — up to R70,000… with no guarantee.
And the kicker? Pet medical aid wouldn’t cover half of it.

So we did what we could.
Physio. Medication. Love. Prayers.
But eventually, he had more pain than peace.
And I found myself on my knees asking God,
“Please don’t let him suffer.”

Then one day, I picked him up… and saw it in his eyes:
*“Help me be free. ”*

💔 I made the call. The kind that breaks your soul but comes from pure love.
And even that choice had a price tag.
Vets charged between R1400 and R900. The SPCA quoted R450.
We chose our vet. He passed with dignity. Because he deserved that much.

But what haunts me is that money dictated everything.
Every choice. Every delay. Every “what if.”

So I ask again:
How much is enough?
In a world where everything keeps going up — except your income…
Where the cost of living is pushing us all to the edge…
Where you're grieving a pet, a family member, or just trying to provide for the people who count on you…

How many of us are silently drowning?

No one is coming to save us. It’s on us to change things.

**In Life, We Meet Three Kinds of People: Leaves, Branches, and Roots...**

Some people are like **leaves** on a tree. They're only around for a season. They blow in the wind, change with the weather, and eventually fall away. They're not meant to stay forever—but they serve a purpose. They teach us temporary lessons, remind us to let go, and prepare us for change. In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world, leaf people are part of your growth cycle. Appreciate them, release them, and move forward.

Then there are **branch people**. They seem strong at first. You trust them, lean on them—but when life gets heavy, they sometimes break. Not because they’re bad—but because they were never built to carry the weight of your entire journey. Branch people are necessary too. They show us who we can lean on, and when it’s time to stand alone. Their presence builds resilience.

But then, there are the **root people**. You rarely see them, but they’re always there—deep, strong, and grounded. They don’t need the spotlight, but they keep you standing. They nourish you in silence, hold you up in storms, and grow with you through every season. These people are rare—but when you find them, cherish them.

And above them all, **there is One who is not just a root—but the Vine itself**: **God**. When every leaf has fallen, and every branch has broken, God remains. He is the root system holding your soul, the never-changing presence in an ever-changing world. People may come and go, but He stays. Always.

So don’t fear the falling leaves or the breaking branches—because your roots are strong. And your foundation is eternal.
