The Clover Mama Afrika Trust invited Gerda Tuffin of the Cape School of Floristry, once again, to do some creative flower arranging and hamper making lessons with the Mamas who indicated a desire to make businesses at their centres.
Prof Elain Vlok with her talented Mamas made a Clover products gift hamper as well as a gift basket with tinned food. They were shown how to make a variety of ribbons to decorate the gifts.
A door decoration was made with dried fynbos, soap flowers, ribbons and artificial grapes and greens.
Table centre pieces with a decorated wine bottle, flowers in a pretty teacup and a spiral bunch of flowers were made during the course.
The focus here was on long lasting flowers and affordability.

During May, Gerda Tuffin of the Cape School of Floristry was invited to do a creative table tops flower arranging workshop for the Clover Mama Afrika Mamas that had an interest in using flowers in a more commercial way in their communities. We used a variety of containers with a focus on cost, recycled tins, elegant, glassware, natural as well as easily accessible. We focused on flowers and foliage that would last, such as succulents and proteas as well as the elegance of a few roses. Thoroughly enjoyable 2 days of fun with flowers!

The CHRYSANTHEMUMS are sometimes called “mums” or Chrysanths” and are flowering plants belonging to the plant family Asteraceae and are of the genus Chrysanthemum. There are an incredible amount of varieties and cultivars available in numerous colours.

The Chrysanthemum is a perennial herbaceous shrub and very hardy.

Commercial chrysanthemums are usually bought from wholesaler in bud stage so that they last longer and are less prone to damage.
