Today 30 years ago we bought our lovely little Val Hotel on an auction for a mere R18000. We have never looked back. If it wasn't for our wonderful guests who stay and leave and come back again, or our dedicated staff and our supportive community, and our family and friends, we would not have run our hotel with so much success over the last 3 decades. The third annual Trap De Val 100 Miler (160 km) took place last weekend and was a fantastic success!
All 115 riders cycled Mulbarton, South of Johannesburg, to our little hamlet in Mpumalanga.
The cyclists peddled through picturesque platteland, passing Meyerton, Balfour & Greylingstad, and even some rain before finally finishing the cycle at the Val Hotel.
There was as usual a great sense of reward since the cyclists rode for a greater purpose, to raise funds for The Teddy Bear Foundation, an NPO that provides support to abused children and their families.
A whopping R 30,000 was raised at a fantastic auction which was hosted at the Val Hotel.
Congratulations to all the riders for their incredible efforts, and a heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and generous contributors (see the list of contributors below). Your support has made a meaningful difference.
