Males of about the same size and age will engage in sparring contests. They approach each other slowly, lock horns and push back and forth until one gives up. Usually, no serious injuries result. Occasionally, 2 combatants will lock horns in such a way that they could not disengage, dying with their horns together.
Unfortunately we lost a young bull in the fight.
Nature is always interesting.
There is no denying that warthogs are not the most aesthetically pleasing of Africa’s wildlife. Large, flat heads covered in ‘warts’, four sharp tusks, sparse hair – they are not likely to win any beauty contests. However, there is a toughness and tenacity to these little animals that we cannot help but admire.
They do have some odd habits – entering burrows backwards, trotting with erect tails, and bending their forelegs to graze – but their undeniable charisma will leave a memorable mark on your safari.

At 3 to 4 years of age Sable males are evicted from female social groups and live in bachelor herds until they reach sexual maturity at 5 years. Mating occurs from May to July, birthing occurs from January to April.
The bushbuck is an antelope with geometrically shaped white patches or spots on the most mobile parts of its body — the ears, chin, tail, legs, and neck. Male bushbucks have horns, which are between 10 and 20 inches long and grow straight back. At 10 months, young males sprout strongly twisted horns that form the first loop of a spiral at maturity.
The sable antelope gets its name from the Russian word for “black,” though only the males of the species are truly black. Female and young sable are a rich chestnut color with white facial markings, as well as a white belly and rump.

Buffalos are unpredictable
Thanks to their unpredictability, African buffalos, unlike other species, have never been tamed. This, in addition to its massive size, lethal set of horns, and absence of predators, makes it a wild species worthy of respect for its position in the animal world.

Is it a bird, is it a plane… no, it’s the world’s highest show-jumper and the award goes to the champion klipspringer! Despite their dainty size of just 1 meter tall, they can jump as high as eight metres in the air.
Klipspringers can easily leap over the world’s tallest mammal on Earth today, the great giraffe. With no comparison at all, the highest human high jump on record is only eight feet (2.4 m).
Fun fact;
On average wildebeest spend around 4.5 h sleeping each day. This sleep is comprised of both non-REM (4.2 h) and REM (0.28 h).

The rock monitor (Varanus albigularis) is a species of monitor lizard in the family Varanidae. The species is endemic to Central, East, and southern Africa. It is the second-longest lizard found on the continent, and the heaviest-bodied; locally, it is called leguaan or likkewaan.

Honey Badger (mellivora capensis) fun facts:
*Most of the subspecies are not called honey badgers but ratels, and there are two explanations for this phrase.
Ratel means honeycomb in Dutch, which isn’t too distant from honey badger.
Ratel is also the word for rattle in Afrikaans, and when the honey badger chooses to fight it does so with a strong rattling sound.
*For such a small animal honey badgers have enormous brains. They are one of Africa’s cleverest creatures, capable of tricking their captors and escaping any man-made trap.
They are one of very few non-primates known to manufacture and use tools. For example, they will roll fallen tree branches into position so they can climb to a food source. If they can’t dig under an obstacle, they will build ladders to get over it.
Check out this incredible video showing how a honey badger escapes from multiple enclosures on a South African farm. 😋

Warthogs eat grasses and plants, and also use their snouts to dig or “root” for roots or bulbs. When startled or threatened, warthogs can be surprisingly fast, running at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour. Warthogs are adaptable and are able to go long periods without water, as much as several months in the dry season.

The adult African buffalo's horns are its characteristic feature: they have fused bases, forming a continuous bone shield across the top of the head referred to as a "boss". It is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous animals on the African continent, and according to some estimates, it gores, tramples, and kills over 200 people every year.
