A few years back, I had a top-tier bucket list goal to visit this location. It's probably one of the most unforgettable and special moments of my life.

There wasn't any clouds for more dramatic images, but I can't say I was disappointed because the experience far exceeded anything a camera could capture. This image will have to suffice!

I posted a Reel back on the 30th of July saying I "struck gold" having an epic sunset down at the Lighthouse. Not only was the light gold, but everything about being there was a treasure. Here's the first image from that spectacular evening!

It's a never ending privilege to be out in nature enjoying the beauty of the Cape Peninsula.

Misty sunrise peaks of the Cedarberg.

An Epic Vista rolls out before your eyes just before you pass over the first mountains entering Cedarberg Territory.

I've wanted to stop many times but the timing always seemed wrong or difficult when traveling with the kids. This time I decided it needed to be photographed, despite conditions not being optimal... It's a surprisingly challenging spot to shoot, as it's so vast all the good stuff is in the distance which you lose on a wide lens. Using a long lens you lose all the openess the Farmlands have to offer. Still, I have a few shots from the trip that are worth sharing at some point. Here's a black and white so long.

Kalk Bay - Tranquil Drama!

Yesterday evening was both a let down and a win. I got to the pier maybe 5 min too late. An exceptional orange glow was bursting over the mountain tops and it cast a lovely orange glow behind the Lighthouse. There was an incredible rainbow - however, the wind was so intense I couldn't get set up in time to capture it.

I ended up huddling behind the green Lighthouse for shelter (where this photo was taken from) and wondering if I wasn't going to get blown off, maybe even having to get down on the floor if it got any harder - the gusts were REALLY intense! By the time it settled, the good light was gone and I was left feeling bleak. Also my plan for long exposures wasn't going to work as the wind my rattling the tripod.

Fortunately, once the sun was down the wind calmed enough that the shielding from the Lighthouse kept the tripod still enough to capture this. The colour image was great but all the drama came out in the black and white. Stoked with the result.

Very grey and windy today at Kalk Bay Harbour, but absolutely loved the atmosphere and the mood. I love the contrast of the grey skies against the Lighthouses...

Such a privilege to live in such a start part of the world. Smitswinkel Bay is the ultimate tranquil, solitary place to start the day.

Even if light doesn't play along, it's still worth being out and enjoy nature. Great results none the less...👌🏻

Something different from the norm... Visited Kalk Bay Harbour this morning and decided to shoot outside my usual box - and I'm glad I did. I've got a few of these to go through, but seeing as I wanted to include this shot in the reel, I decided to share it so long.

Shot this at about 1/10s. I wanted a slow enough shutter to blur the water but maintain a slight bit of detail in the reflection... the problem is the boat blurs and the highlights clip to white and you lose detail, so it was a fine balance and a lot of shots to get all the elements balanced 👌🏻

This Aloe is the Star of the show... or is it? Shot this messing around outside our cabin the other night when we were on holiday in Citrusdal. I never do night skies, so I'm quite happy with a half decent result!

It was beyond words how special it was sitting right next to this aloe in the hot tub, looking up at the Majesty of the heavens, watching shooting stars (there were loads) with my kids. Winning. It was a much needed break after 2024 being an unbelievably challenging year.

Came across this STUNNING scene the other day in the Cedarberg. The Farmlands nestled beneath the mountains still had their breath taking autumn colors making for a bright and colorful landscape as the rising sun begun to light the landscape.

There's nothing better than being out in and amongst this kind of beauty, and as I get older, I appreciate the solitude. The birds chirping, the fresh winter air on my skin - nose running - and golden light all working in harmony to warm the soul. God is the ultimate artist and I'm privileged to witness and share it.

You'll see a couple of oldies popping up as I get this profile up to date with new and past content. This was Cape Point back in 2016. Still one of my favourites.

I don't normally include human subjects but I set this shot up and with the way I was feeling that day, felt it could only be expressed through an inclusion of me in a photograph.
