It is with both awe and a sense of pride, that we look back and reflect on Jax and Rui’s gorgeous celebration at their home in Bishops. Hosting a wedding at home, in your own private space is often difficult to conceptualize. “At home” doesn’t mean it’s going to be less stressful for you - no matter how many family members want to help you and offer their time.

Did you know?
Cocktail hour (commonly known as canapés) is the period after your ceremony - before reception - where your guests get a chance to snack/mingle and your photographer steals you away for your creative couples shoot.

It’s also a fun time for our couples to express themselves creatively with their wedding design - be it via stationery, a couples welcome drink or bringing in some entertainment.

We love the fact that went with a completely different colour palette for canapé hour compared to the monochromatic tones of her and Matt’s ceremony and reception.

Ceremony was an all white floral affair, and their reception followed suit with touches of black and neutral accents. But cocktail hour, was a vibrant explosion of colour and fun!

Always remember that when it comes to YOUR wedding, there are no rules! You don’t have to conform to what is considered the ‘usual’ - you should go for what you and your partner feel suits you the best.

By the way, it also makes our job even more interesting and you know how much your OHD girls love pushing boundaries!

How to tell guests that your wedding will be CHILD-FREE, baby! 🚫🍼

We know it’s hard, bridefriends. But if you’ve decided on the no-kids rule then here are some easy ways to be firm about it with your invites. Understand that you will get some push-back : Oh, little Johnny is too young to be left alone for so long! (or) But little Ally is such a sweet child, you won’t even notice her there! Yes, it’s going to happen....
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Be consistent from the outset (ie: on your website and in your invite). This gives guests more time to plan ahead.
2) Don’t be upset if certain guests can’t attend as a result. You are justified in your decision to have a child-free wedding, and they as parents are justified in not attending if they can’t leave their children.
3) Be accepting of the fact that some parents may have to leave early.
4) Be firm. This is a decision you have made together, and don’t make exceptions, no matter how guilty you are made to feel by your family and friends.

Statistics show that the average wedding takes approximately 800 hours to plan (that is equivalent to over 20 full work weeks). Bespoke wedding planning can be stressful if you lack the know-how or don’t have the time that is needed to put into it.

Here at OHD, our luxury wedding planning package is FULLY comprehensive, allowing us to combine all our specialities – the design process, the planning process and the coordination process – into one offering. But what does this mean?

DESIGNING
As your designers, we take the role of translating your vision, personality and style into the overall look and feel of the wedding. We help couples select color palettes, design mood boards, create floor plans, choose decor, rentals, lighting, and curate an overall aesthetic that carries throughout the entire event.

PLANNING
As your planners, we source and manage the correct vendors for your unique vision.

STYLING
As stylists, we make sure your tablescapes are perfect before the guests arrive, making sure the place settings are correct, cutlery is facing the right way, place cards are perfectly centered to the plates, etc. We ensure everything is picture perfect.

COORDINATING
As your coordinators, we manage the day of your wedding according to our agreed-upon timeline, making sure vendors are briefed and arrive on time, any surprises are handled with minimum fuss, that the kitchen and MC are briefed correctly, and that nothing runs over time.

This little guy (IN A TUX, no less) made the most amazing escourt for Heidi as she took those first steps to her new husband. Look at the bond of love that they share 😍

Our clients got married at home (meaning it was a comfortable environment for their little fur babies) AND she’s a dog trainer by profession which means all of them listen and take instructions well (they all compete).
