Christmas Concert
December 06, 2024

We wrapped up the term, like a beautiful gift, ringing in the yuletide spirit at our annual Christmas Concert. 🎁✨

This year, our ensembles, bands, choir and staff took to the stage and fun, nostalgia and the season’s magic could be felt all round.

Our learners were incredible, as always, and the wonderful audience's applause were a testament to this. The Staff Wind Band saw each member learning a woodwind or brass instrument in one week, and the performance was stellar! 🎷🎺

Congratulations to the Senior Wind Band who won the Christmas Tree Decorating Competition with their creatively recycled tree! All the trees were beautiful and the camaraderie, and teamwork was easily visible. 🎄🎊

Thank you to all who attended and supported our wonderful fundraising initiative – we appreciate each one of you! Our Fundraising Committee pulled out all the stops and we are grateful for their contributions to the evening and toward the Centre’s Bursary Fund.

We’re very proud of our matriculants who conducted the sing-along carols – you all did so well! 🪄

After this merry concert, “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” ✨

National Youth Music Competition
December 02 – 07, 2024

Kyrah Adams’ stellar performance at this year’s The National Youth Music Competition was a sight to behold when she played her way through to the final round of the competition, in the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch.

She performed as a soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the masterful Brandon Phillips, performing Hendrik Hofmeyr's, Concerto for Marimba, Op. 164. 🎶🪄

Thank you to the competition’s coordinator, Mrs Aileen Maas and her exceptional team for such an incredible platform, and opportunity to showcase such phenomenal, young talent. 👏🏼

Kyrah won her category for Other Instruments and we look forward to her phenomenally bright future!

Jazz Concert
November 28, 2024

Our last Jazz Concert of the year was a memorable one that showcased new talent and fantastic growth! 🌱👏🏼

Congratulations to each performer and the wonderful teachers who are giving jazz a beautiful voice at our Music Centre.

At the end of this term, we greet Mr Kyle Vollenhoven (bass guitar) and Mrs Inge Scott (flute), and are grateful for the impact they have made in the band. Matriculants, Kyrah Adams (xylophone) and Liander Pottas (saxophone) will pursue their studies in music next year, at Stellenbosch University, and their indelible role in the band will certainly be missed, too.

Thank you to the Ramon Alexander Trio for their guidance and contributions to the life of our jazz department. 🫶🏼🎶

2025, here we come! 🚀

Kyrah Adams Solo Marimba Recital
November 24, 2024

Kyrah Adams, one of our exceptionally talented multi-instrumentalists played a solo marimba recital in preparation for her performances at The National Youth Music Competition, accompanied by Liza Joubert on piano.

Kyrah’s poise, impeccable skill and the precision she carries as she masters the marimba is a magical experience to behold, executing it all by memory.

Kyrah delivered a jaw-dropping performance in the final round of the Competition on Saturday, 07 December 2024, when she performed as a soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Endler Hall. 👏🏼🪄

We are delighted and very proud to announce that Kyrah was awarded the category winner for Other Instruments! ✨

Funky Hats Beginners Concert
November 22, 2024

This year’s fifty-seven beginner learners/ adult students boldly showcased their talents in front of an excited audience of parents, friends and teachers. 👏🏼

For many of our young musicians this concert was their first and they performed in style with their funky hats! 🥳🤠

Each musician’s talents are infinite and precious, and we are exceptionally proud of them!
