Please take a moment to read the following important information that provides answers to all our most frequently asked questions.
1) Viewing and hiring of costumes is by appointment only. Our business location is in the Blackridge area of Pietermaritzburg, which is midway between Hilton and Pietermaritzburg central. For security reasons, kindly note that no customers will be admitted onto the pr
operty unless a booking has been confirmed.
2) To make a booking, please follow this link: https://calendly.com/kzncostumehire/booking. Should a costume be required urgently and available timeslots are not suitable, you may contact Wendy on 0828779126 (call/whatsapp) and we will do our best to accommodate you at a mutually convenient, alternative time.
3) Our rental fee ranges between R120 - R150 per costume. We also charge a refundable deposit in addition to the rental fee (which is paid back to you once you return the complete costume, undamaged, within 5 calendar days of collecting the rental items). Please note that the amount of the deposit will vary in relation to the replacement value of the item(s) you are hiring.
4) Unless special arrangements have been agreed for a long-term rental, customers may only keep a costume for a maximum period of 5 calendar days. Late returns incur a penalty of R10 per day, which will be deducted from your deposit.
5) Costume reservations made well in advance of an event date are most welcome, but the rental fee as well as the deposit must be paid in full before the costume can be secured for such future date. The rental period of 5 calendar days will then commence with effect from date of collection. Should it subsequently transpire that the costume rental is no longer required, only the deposit will be refunded.
6) Both card and cash payments are acceptable at KZN Costume Hire.
7) All costumes are laundered by KZN Costume Hire after they are returned to us, before being rented out to the next customer. Since many of our costumes include delicate finishes, customers who launder our costumes themselves risk forfeiting their deposit should any damages occur.
